What you need to know

  • Pre-orders for the Motorola Edge are now open.
  • Motorola's offering a special $500 introduction price — $200 off the phone's MSRP.
  • It's available at Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and Motorola's website.

The journey to the Motorola Edge has been one that's required a lot of patience. Motorola unveiled the value flagship all the way back in April, and at the end of June, confirmed its retail price of $700. We were left waiting for an actual release date, and today, Motorola has given us just that.

Pre-orders for the Motorola Edge are open right now, and if you act fast, you can buy the phone for $200 less than what it normally costs. Motorola's selling the Edge for just $500 during this pre-order phase, almost making it worthy of an insta-buy considering the specs it's bringing to the table.

If you need a little refresher, the Motorola Edge is equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED display. You get a Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, along with curved edges that flow over the sides of the phone. There are three cameras on the back (64MP primary, 16MP ultra-wide, 8MP telephoto), USB-C charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for 5G connectivity on sub-6 networks.

Under the hood, the Motorola Edge has the Snapdragon 765 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,500 mAh battery. NFC is also available for Google Pay support, unlike all of Motorola's Moto G handsets.

The Motorola Edge is available as a universally unlocked phone for all major carriers in the U.S., and you can pick it up at Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and Motorola's official website. Regular sales begin on July 31, and when that day comes, the $200 discount will likely disappear. In other words, if you're interested in getting the Edge, now's the time to act.
