Earlier this week, vivo Mobile India commenced production at its manufacturing unit in Greater Noida, a suburb of New Delhi. The company entered the Indian market in December last year, and this move is aimed at decreasing the company's dependence on imports.
The unit will cater to the manufacturing and assembling of vivo smartphones and has a maximum production capacity of one million devices a month. The company has invested approximately ₹125 crore ($19 million) as its first phase of investment in the 30,000 sq.m. facility which comprises several assembly lines, quality control lab, and warehouses.
I took a tour of the facility and observed the assembly line guided by the production manager at the unit. Here are some photos of the factory tour.
