Looking to surprise a loved one this holiday season with a unique gift they won't see coming? Southwest Airlines is having a nationwide sale on flights with one-way tickets starting as low as $39 and round-trip tickets from $98. This is one of the most affordable ways this year to get across the U.S. and to your destination quickly, and at these prices, you could even consider just going for a short one or two-day trip. There's just one catch: the sale comes to an end at midnight EST tonight. That doesn't leave you much time to figure out where and when you're flying, so you should start making plans ASAP.

From $78 roundtrip

The latest 3 day sale from Southwest offers savings into March of 2020 starting at $78 roundtrip.

There are a few restrictions to this deal you'll want to keep in mind when booking your flight, with the biggest being the travel window; you must fly on or before May 20, 2020, or you won't see today's special sale pricing. There are also some blackout dates to keep in mind which are listed on AirfareWatchdog's site.

This Southwest Airlines sale has a lot of great deals, though they vary depending on where you're going and where you're departing from. You could grab a non-stop flight from Atlanta to Nashville for only $98 roundtrip, or fly Salt Lake City to Las Vegas roundtrip for just $118. There are some international flights on sale too, such as Orlando to Montego Bay for just $289 roundtrip or San Diego rto Los Cabos for $309 roundtrip. Both of those options are non-stop flights, too.

Southwest's Open Seating policy means there are no assigned seats; you'll choose your seat when you board the plane rather than picking one online when you buy your ticket. You'll also want to keep in mind Southwest's baggage fees. Your ticket allows for a carry-on bag, a personal item, and two free checked bags up to 50 pounds each.
