The first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode is out for Android

One of the most popular games in the world, the sandbox game Minecraft, finally has a spin-off title. Developers Mojang and Telltale Games have released the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode for Android for $4.99.

The game offers up a narrative set in the blocky and retro-graphics world of Minecraft. The first part of the five-part series features an impressive voice cast, including Patton Oswalt, Paul Reubens and more. Here's a quick description:

"As Jesse, you'll embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon. While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, you and your friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion."

You can also go ahead and purchase access to the other upcoming episodes now for $14.99 via an in-app purchase.

  • If I buy this game and play it on my phone, will it pick up where I left off if I then play it on my tablet? Posted via the Android Central App
  • You might be able to if Telltale has some kind of account system to track saves or something because after looking at the page for the game on Google Play, it doesn't have support for Google Play Games Cloud Saves, which they could make possible in a future update Posted via the Android Central App on my Nexus 6

  • Well I'm excited! I'm also quite glad I have an unlimited data plan, because I have a feeling it is going to be a huge file and I will be downloading this ASAP even though I don't have WIFI available at work.
  • You seriously can't want until you get on wifi?
    Shouldn't you be working? /sarcasm
  • I like to think of it as multitasking... ;) Although considering that it is saying it is going to take another 5 hours to complete the download maybe I will wait. Lol Posted via the Android Central App
