Amazon Echo picks up some sports chops with updates on your favorite teams and more

A week rarely goes by without an update to the Amazon Echo's feature set, and this week is no different. Amazon has updated its speaker-digital assistant with some more nifty stuff today, including customized sports updates, fantasy football chops, and more.

In this latest update, users can now get custom updates on their favorite sports teams. If you open the Alexa app and navigate to settings, you'll now see a "Sports Update" setting where you can add your favorite teams. After you set it up, you can then ask Alexa to give you your sports update, and the digital assistant will fill you in on your favorite team's latest games and schedules.

While we're talking about sports, Alexa is also prepared to help you out with your fantasy football league. Just say "Alexa, ask Fantasy Football Nerd for the latest news," and your Echo will fill you in on any of the top 300 players in the NFL. You can even ask about specific players, and Alexa will give you the rundown.

Finally, Alexa has gained a new skill enabling her to interact with FreeBusy Scheduling Buddy to help you check your calendar and add items to your schedule.
