While power outages used to be a rare and unlikely occurrence, they’ve become increasingly common over the course of the last 10-20 years — especially during severe weather or climate conditions. These blackouts are incredibly frustrating, as they prevent you from using your home appliances or enjoying electronic forms of entertainment. They can also be very dangerous, as without power to support heating or air conditioning systems, homeowners may struggle to keep warm or stay cool during cold winters or scorching heatwaves. Folks who work from home are seriously affected by outages, too, as the power loss will cut your internet connection and stop you from being able to use desktop setups.

Because of how problematic blackouts can be, it’s important to have backup sources of electricity that you can use temporarily until power is restored. One of the best tools you can use for this are power stations, which use battery power to juice up devices and appliances connected to them. One of the best power stations that will soon be available is the BLUETTI AC500 and its B300S battery packs. Between its high maximum charge capacity, wide variety of recharge methods, numerous ports, and compact size, the BLUETTI AC500 offers everything you need to make it through a power outage comfortably.

Traditionally, the downside of using power stations has been that they don’t put out as much power as gas generators do, and also don’t have a very high capacity. This has changed with the BLUETTI AC500, however. The 5000W pure sine inverter ensures that multiple high-power devices and machines  can be hooked up to the station without any issues, and the AC500 is also capable of utilizing up to six companion B300S batteries at once, providing up to 18,432Wh (each battery has a capacity of 3,072Wh). This means that you can keep your essentials powered for extended periods of time, making it much easier to endure long outages. The station is also Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) capable, as it automatically kicks in and restores power to connected devices in just 20 milliseconds following the onset of a blackout. Additionally, the station and its batteries can charge to 80 percent capacity within an hour, so you won’t need to wait long in order to recharge after use. Available recharge methods for the AC500 and B300S batteries include solar energy, a wall outlet, your car’s cigarette lighter port, a lead-acid battery, or a generator.

The station also supports a huge number of peripherals, devices, and appliances. Whether you’re looking to charge up personal electronics or need to keep critical amenities like heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration up and running, the AC500 comes with the ports you’ll need. These include a variety of AC outlets (three 120V/20A Outlets, one 120V/30A L14-30, one 120V/30A TT-30, one 120V/50A NEMA14-50), two DC outlets (one 12V/30A, one 24V/10A), two 100W USB-C ports, four USB-A slots (two 5V/3A, two 18W), and dual 15W wireless charging pads.

Weighing in at just 66.2lbs (30kg) and featuring dimensions of 20.5 x 12.8 x 14.1 inches ( 52 x 32.5 x 35.8 centimeters), the AC500 is much lighter and far less cumbersome than comparable gas generators. Its B300S companion batteries are a little heavier at 79.6lbs (36.1kg), but since the AC500 is modular, you can carry the station and batteries individually instead of all at once. This makes it easy for one person to set up compared to non-modular generators and power stations that often require two or more people to carry.
