ZTE has launched the Nubia Z9 mini in India, marking the debut of the Chinese manufacturer's Nubia brand in the country.
The Nubia Z9 mini was announced along with the Nubia Z9 Max in the month of March, which were joined by the bezel-less flagship Nubia Z9 earlier this month. In India, the Z9 mini is sold exclusively via Amazon, with the device available for ₹16,999 ($267).
ZTE's handset is the latest entrant in a segment crowded with affordable value for money devices, such as the ZenFone 2, Galaxy A5, Xiaomi Mi 4, OnePlus One and the Honor 6. The phone holds its own when it comes to the specs, which include:
- 5-inch full-HD IPS display
- 1.5GHz 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC
- 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, microSD card slot
- 16MP camera, 8MP front shooter
- Dual-SIM, LTE, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0
- 2,900mAh battery
- Android 5.0 with Nubia UI 2.8
The specs of the Z9 mini are certainly up to par with what is being offered in the mid-range segment in India, although it remains to be seen if ZTE can drum up significant consumer interest. In what is a departure from the flash sales model followed by several vendors in the country, the Z9 mini is up for open sale on Amazon.
