Is everything as sweet as you had hoped?
This week we have a poll question that I hate to ask, but I have to. Our inbox is filled with people using Nexus phones and tablets (the 4, the 5 and the 7 are all well represented) who were probably happy when they received a notification that a Lollipop update was ready for them, but certainly aren't happy now.
If you're one of those folks, you know where I'm going. If not, know that there seems to be a rash of issues that people who updated an existing Android to Lollipop are seeing, while at the same time plenty of others who did the same exact thing aren't seeing at all. Data connection issues. Issues sending and receiving SMS messages. Streaming YouTube videos is broken. And the list goes on.
Normally, you have to discount a few reports as typical tech "bad luck." Everytime you change the software on any electronic device, there is always a chance that things will go wrong. But when you see many people reporting the exact same issues, chances are there is a real problem. We feel for all of you affected, and know that not everyone thinks it's something you did or something you need to fix. We're also sure that people at Google are doing everything they can to get to the bottom of it all, and they will do whatever it takes to make it right. We also know that this is not a lot of help when your phone can't stay connected long enough to do anything with it.
I'm poking my head into every nook and cranny of the Internet to see what users like us (hey — I'm a user, too!) have done to try and alleviate issues, and I'll be compiling a list of what you can try to fix things yourself. In the meantime, I'm curious just how many people are seeing problems of any type.
See the poll below. Please cast your vote, then get into the comments and let us know how things are going — whether they are going well or poorly.
