TiVo announces TiVo App for Android

This is about 6 months too late for me. I canceled my Comcast TV service and TiVo over the summer. It's been strictly Netflix and Hulu since.

I downloaded this on the market yesterday, was looking for a network remote app, and glad to see they included one in their app.

They are wrong. It will run on anything, including Xoom and other 10" tablets. But you will have to side-load the APK. I have been using it for several days on the Xoom...

I'd post to TiVo and tell them.. They announced this Saturday night and I saw many complain that the Bionic and Razr is not supported which is pure BS.

Hopefully TiVo remedies this ASAP!

Only TiVo would release a long desired app and exclude a ton of phones, my Droid 3 included. Total crap!

It will run on most any Android device, including Xoom and other 10" tablets. But you will have to side-load the APK. I have been using it for several days on the Xoom...

So I contacted TiVo support to see if it's just a mix up when the App was submitted to the market that Droid 3 isn't included. The initial response from TiVo Support was:

I would be happy to help you today. Unfortunately there has not been an Android Application released at this time.

I provided them with the link to Android Market for THEIR app. This stumped them. They are now looking into it and asking questions about what OS is on the Droid 3 etc. Oh to not be prepared for a launch of a new product! lol

Tivo Support: Okay, I am just looking this information up since this is the first time that I have heard about the release. I do apologize about this.

Tivo Support:Okay, give me one moment. I am going to contact my next level of support to see what we need to do from here.

I passed on the posts that it doesn't work with the Bionic or Razr either.

End result...

TiVo Support: Okay, thank you for waiting. They will be escalating that information up to get that taken care of. It can take about 5-7 business days to get that working. I would recommend trying to download it again in the 5-7 business days. If you are still not able to download it please contact us back and we can check on that information for you.

What error messages are you guys getting? I'm getting "Can't Install to SD card"... Not sure if that is just me or the typical "your phone is not supported in this app". (HTC Aria)

this is turning out to be a fail across the board here. Bionic is not supported, but my OG DROID is, WTF #1. They specifically advertise that it will work on the Kindle Fire, yet it is not available in the Amazon Appstore, WTF #2. Kind of disappointing b/c I was looking forward to having an official Tivo app, and only 1 of my 3 devices are supported.

anyone have the apk to sideload this onto the Bionic and/or Kindle Fire?

Works pretty well, kinda mad they crippled it a bit by disabling some features for older Tivo units but I guess they have to upsell the Premier somehow r, wish they hadn't left out the Now Playing screen from the TivoHD tho... Specially since there used to be an app on the market with the same capability, so it's clearly not a limitation of the older Tivo hardware.
