HTC Espresso ROMHTC Espresso ROM

Where there's an upcoming HTC phone, there's a current HTC ROM dump. And that brings us to this leak that reportedly shows the HTC Espresso's Sense UI with Android 2.1, ripped from the ROM and plopped onto a Hero. That bolsters the argument that the Espresso may be the successor to the Hero, but we'll just have to wait and see. A couple more pictures after the break. [Via HTCPedia]

T-mobile is getting some really nice handsets, hd2, n900, bold 9700 etc. They really offer some great stuff and where they have 3g its solid. I wish other companies verizon and att would get these super nice handsets

Once a ROM leaks out, the floodgates are opened. Welcome to the wonderful world of HTC bootloaders, my friends. Espresso details: http://bit.ly/htc-espresso-details

the only thing that makes me think this is just a home replacement app is since the clock looks more like weather widget donate then the sense clock and weather.

I'm not too sure about those bubbles around every icon...I think it looks much better without them.

That looks terrible! If I wanted a fake iphone-blackberryish theme, I'd know where to find it. I wouldn't want to find it on an htc device. Chunk that & back to the drawing board.

Yuck! Talk about a major step back. Sense UI was clean and functional. This bubble look is brutal, like Sony's recent mis-step on the PS3 (which they've also been roundly criticized for).

I'll definitely be disabling Sense if this is truly the new UI.

I liked the original bottom bar a little better but this is fine. The Bubble design is kinda stupid on the homescreen.

This seems official. not weather widget donate as i do not see it in the app drawer. also has those htc apps that require "htc framework". its obviously from the future tho lol. tomorrow to be exact!

This has to be fake HTC's not retarted they wouldn't mess up their image by creating a UI made by some 3rd Grader. I'm really hoping to see the the 2.1 Gallery and "All Programs" menu.

Wait.. this has to be fake.

Why is the + button on the bottom of the homescreen replaced with a contacts button?

because you can long press the screen to get the options that the + button gave, its not really needed

how about because that is the dumbest button ever. all you have to do is long press on the screen to do the same thing. where as to get to 'people' program you have to hit the phone button, then the 'favorites' icon, then slide it over to the 'all people' icon. now they just put the all people link directly in the bottom bar. I as a hero user hope this is real and hope they push this as an update to older devises.

Meh, if I wanted my phone to look like an iPhone I'd get one.

Fake as can be. What leads you to think the amazing artists behind Sense would replace it with some good-for-nothing more acessible interface - like we don't know where are the icon borders... Also, the bottom menu would have to have the page indicator.

I'll tell you one thing for sure: if this comes to happen ( which I believe will not, for the sake of my trust on HTC), I will gladly root my Hero, thing that right now I don't really want to do...

i believe, when we get the animated wallpaper with the weather like the HD2`s version of Sense, the game is considered over!

I can't speak to the validity of these pictures. But more often than not, they're real. Once a ROM leaks out, the floodgates are opened. Welcome to the wonderful world of HTC bootloaders, my friends.

Please, please PLEASE HTC, eliminate those hideous bubbles around the icons. It ruins the clean, polished look of Sense. Other than that, the rest of the changes seem like a step in the right direction.

I really hope this isn't the final version of the icons. Those bubbles are so stupid. I hope this is fake...it even looks fake. those are the same icons from sense just with bubbles around them. I would hope HTC would re-do all of the icons for 2.1 as the original icons themselves, i feel anyway, were kind of weak to begin with...
