In Short

Samsung's latest and greatest Android tablet

Announced to the world at an event in New York City alongside a 10.5-inch sibling, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is Samsung's latest attempt at the high-end Android tablet. And, as the name implies it's 8.4-inches in size. It's thin, it's light and it's packing a gorgeous 2560x1600 resolution Super AMOLED display with 359 pixels per inch. Touchwiz is ever present, though tweaked somewhat from its phone version to suit the bigger display.

That display is a big highlight for Samsung but it isn't the whole story. The Galaxy Tab S borrows design cues from the Galaxy S5 smartphone and is insanely slim and light for a tablet. Underneath it all Samsung has packed some top end internal specs and the latest version of its Touchwiz software tweaked a little for the tablet. The Tab S and the Galaxy S5 are the best of friends, too, with Samsung's latest Sidesync software adding remote access to the phone right on the tablet.

If you want it in white or black you're well catered for, and the Tab S is trimmed in gold for that "air of luxury." It goes on sale in the U.S. in July.
