We get our first real look at the official HTC One X case

HTC One X Case

We've just gotten a good look at the HTC One X case that's been floating around here at the Frequencies event. The bottom line (according to HTC) is that it's meant to really not meant to break up the lines of the One X. And while its design is pretty much unlike any case you've used before, it actually feels pretty good in the hand, is easy enough to take on and off, and it should protect the phone. The screen is left unprotected, and note that it works around the charging contacts and speaker, as well as the camera.

Note that this is the second version of the case that we've seen -- the first is a series of holes. HTC doesn't yet know when the cases will be available, or where they'll be sold. In fact, the cases don't even really have a name.

We've got more pics after the break.

HAHA!! I was thinking more of the of those old 80's rocker ripped shirts

pfff cases they dont help. i dont use anything on my s2. still looks brand new with no scratches and i dont baby it. though ive never dropped it

While I would normally agree, I'd want something protecting my camera lens. It's the only real universal design flaw on that phone. Pretty much every review I've read has mentioned it.

crxssi says:

I have had two other HTC's with exactly the same protruding lens have have never had any problems. I don't use a case.

Gonna disagree with you, one swift drop on the corner, and most of our phones will turn into a mosaic of glass. My TPU skin has saved my phone(s) on many occasions.

stalte says:

Proven today. I dropped my s2 on the corner and it shattered the screen. I have dropped it before but never hit the sweet spot on the corners.

I love it! I want one for my SGSIIE4GT! :D

Uh, come again?

A minimalist case, to be sure. We should all try to stop saying that something "feels good in the hand." We should instead report when an object does not feel right. I can't see HTC making something like this for the upcoming Sprint One LTE, due to their kickstand feature.

This is very promising. Here's a phone manufacturer designing a case for its own product! This could be a first for the Android platform. And it shows that HTC cares about its designs. They'd rather you buy this than some generic piece of colored silicone from Amzer or Amazon.

tommydaniel says:

All they have to do is cut a hole for the kickstand, which was done for every case that was released for the EVO 4G.

Looks like a phone found in a Clive Barker film.

Visual360 says:

WTH???

Who designed this thing? Ugliest thing ever.

TheBigFerret says:

If this comes off easy, and my girlfriend can wear it, +1

...honestly the most horrible looking design I have seen for a phone. Epic fail

TheBigFerret says:

Your phone will get unsightly tan lines

Raadius says:

Looks pretty damn cheesy...

orbitman0 says:

the One X is such a beautiful device, why would you want to hide it from the world?! lol

thebizz says:

Wow its funny how many people are hating on this case and this phone I find it refreshing that a manufacturer is serious about the design of their phones and what accessories you can get with it. Makes me want this phone even more

E_man says:

I'd like to see it on a black device. I think a black device with a white case, or vise versa wouldn't look cheesy. Also, how well does it protect the camera. Hard to tell on the pictures.

It's meant to really not meant to?

I really don't like all the case reviews on AC and the sponsored posts and deal of the day and all of that. I would rather hear more news on intricate posts on developer sites and app reviews like androidpolice. I know you guys need to make money, but it's getting to the point where it seems that's the ONLY reason for the site, and I feel lees connected than the earlier days of AC.

rfmike says:

Watch I bet they will come out with the same type of cases down the road with a lip to protect it when dropped.

falconeight says:

That case is by far the ugliest thing I have ever seen.
