In Short

The Dell Venue 8 7840 has an awkward name. We can't help that. But what we can do is tell you that this is one exciting Android tablet. It's one of the thinnest available at a mere 6 mm. It's got a high-resolution OLED display — 8.4 inches at 2560x1600 —  Dell calls it "infinity." We don't blame them. While the display isn't quite edge to edge — especially given the bottom of this guy — it's just about as close as you can get on three of the sides.

Trust us, this tablet looks good.

It's powered by an Intel Atom processor — one of the first of this new crop that we're getting to test out — and has some interesting camera technology to go with it. (Yes, we're talking about cameras on a tablet.)

On the down side? Only 16GB of on-board storage, but it'll take a microSD card up to 512GB. (Yes, that's half a terabyte.) Once such a card is available, that is.

The Dell Venue 8 7840 is available now for about $400.
