Hidden features that make Samsung Galaxy phones perfect for gaming

High-end Samsung Galaxy phones like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra have some obvious traits that are perfect for mobile gamers.
There’s the huge 6.9-inch screen, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s brilliantly powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor with top-tier Adreno 830 graphics. And having a phone from a prestigious series like this tends to guarantee game developers put extra attention into making sure games work as well as they can on the phone.
There’s also Samsung’s Game Mode, which can stop notifications ruining your play time. You can choose which apps can get your attention — if any – set volume and brightness modes just for play, and more.
However, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and other phones in the Galaxy S25 Series also have a stack of other gaming features you may have missed.
Hidden feature 1: Mega storage
Because the Galaxy S25 Ultra is one of Samsung’s top phones, you’re not limited to basic storage options. You can get the phone with up to 1TB of onboard storage, which is more than you get in most laptops.
This means you won’t need to juggle installs of games like Genshin Impact, which take up tens to gigabytes a piece. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series also uses ultra-fast UFS 4.0 storage. This provides speeds comparable to those of a high-end PC or gaming console, ensuring quick load times.
Hidden feature 2: AI Battery optimization
One of the Samsung Galaxy S25’s most important AI features is something you might miss, as it takes place in the background: AI battery optimisation.
This is where the phone gets to know your schedule, and alters its behaviour to fit how you actually use your phone. Samsung says it can improve real-world stamina by up to 10% using it. While we’d like maxed-out power when actually gaming, thanks to this feature it will mean more of your phone’s juice is saved for actual play.
Hidden feature 3: Game Booster performance mode
You may have bumped into the Samsung Galaxy S25’s Game Booster menu before, but there is also a special Performance mode you may have overlooked.
Under the Game Optimization heading within the Game Booster Settings menu you can switch from Balanced to Performance. The latter may use more battery, but it will help you get even better frame rates and fluidity in the most demanding games.
Hidden feature 4: Powerful stereo speakers
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has among the most powerful speakers found in any phone, which we think is particularly important for at-home gaming.
This is down to not just a stereo speaker array, with one unit on the phone’s bottom, another above the screen. It’s that both speakers sound powerful, rather than leaving just one to do all the heavy lifting, as some phones do.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra speakers also have something that most other brands lack: bass. And you can’t make those in-game explosions sound right without some of that.
Hidden feature 5: An awesome HDR screen
All the Galaxy S25 series phones have excellent AMOLED 2X screens. They all have superb contrast, rich colour, HDR10+ support and powerful maximum brightness, with a peak nits rating of 2600.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra does have a couple of little extras ideal for gaming. First, there’s obviously its size. At 6.9 inches across, the display provides a large, clear image.
This is the only phone in the series to also have a reflection-busting finish that doesn’t spoil the pop and clarity of a classic glossy display. It makes gaming outdoors or under harsh strip lighting — or even just near a bright window — far more comfortable.
Hidden feature 6: Charge control during gameplay
The top enemy of gaming isn’t aliens or supernatural bugs. It’s heat, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 family provides a way to keep it at bay, with charging control.
Within the Galaxy S25’s Game Boost menu is a toggle that lets you disable USB-PD charging while gaming.
But won’t this also mean you can’t play indefinitely? Sure, but games will end up running better. When any phone reaches a certain heat level, it will have to tone down its performance to avoid overheating. You don’t want to encourage this by introducing the additional heat involved in battery charging.
One last thing. If you have somehow missed the buzz throughout the internet tech sphere, Samsung has recently launched their latest foldable wonder – the Galaxy Z Fold7.
With major upgrades, such as a stunning (2184 x 1968) 8” main display, a substantial 4400 mAh battery, and the Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, there’s a lot for mobile gamers to get excited about.
