Google says missing apps are back in the Android Market (updated)

Update: And just like that, Google says its fix is in place and developers are seeing their apps again. Huzzah! [Google, Google Developer blog]

Original: Apps have been disappearing from the Android Market for a good many of you (and us) for a few days now, and you've been screaming for answers. And we hear you. And, believe it or not, Google's heard you, too. Here's what Google told us about the problem:

"We are aware of an app visibility issue with certain recent devices. We believe it to be a device configuration problem and are working on a workaround."

We know, we know. You guys and gals won't be happy until the apps are back in the Market like they should be. But remember that there are thousands and thousands and thousands of you using the Android Market, and we don't wan things to get worse. (But that said, let's get this fixed, Google, m'kay?)

  • I think there is still problems. I have been stuck at Authorizing Purchase for the last 30 mins and not able to download an app I just bought.
  • Good news. I can finally see Handcent SMS!
  • Yes thank you Lord Handcent SMS is back...so long ChompSMS!!!!!!!
  • I used Handcent SMS like a year ago but I got rid of it because everytime I got a rext message, twonotifications would pop up...the android one and the handcent one. Is there a way now to make it so only the handcent notification pops up at the top on the phone? It's annoying having to clear norifictations all the time or open both of them to clear the notifications.
  • Yes. Clear Handcent as your default SMS app by going into Settings. Then open up the Android SMS program and turn its notifications off. Then make Handcent your default SMS app again.
  • I'm still having problems. I bought Homerun Battle 3D and it still does not appear in my Market. I am running Froyo on my N1.
  • did you do the market fix?

  • yay, looks like Where is back and the app is much more comprehensive than it was on my Pre. Nice!
  • Is there any chance this fixes the incorrect Live Wallpaper filtering for the Droid/Milestone? Currently, if a listing is flagged as using the 'live wallpaper' feature, it's not shown on the Droid. This is obviously wrong as the Droid supports live wallpapers just fine, and means the existing wallpapers either need to leave the flag off (and confuse any 2.1 users on the Hero/Eris/Moment/etc), or cut half their audience out. I'd really, really, like to see that fixed...
  • I'm not sure this is completely fixed. I'm running a Nexus One with Froyo and for example, I have a live wallpaper called Aquarium Live by KittehFace. They mention a donation version and people in the comments mention loving the donation version, but even when I look at all of the developer's apps, there aren't any paid apps there at all. It's weird, though, because a bunch of other paid apps do appear under the Top Paid sections.
  • I'm missing a number of apps from Android Marketplace after performing a hard reset on my HTC 4G. Applications such as Fandango, Homerun Battle 3D, Hawx, practically all the HD apps. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I contacted HTC and they are helpless, they are blaming Google... Will someone take ownership!!!

  • We had a bunch of (forced) 2.2 users who couldn't see us. Thanks for getting this taken care of. Best,

  • Just received my DROID X and 80% of the apps did were not in my download list in the market. Also There are a couple of apps TV.com, OneCast that are not showing up in the market. I can see them on my other DROIDS. Any ideas? Bob
  • Yeah, probably because the phone's still not officially released. I've been missing stuff since the launch event. They'll update the market to recognize it. Or, you can edit the build.prop if you really want to.
