Chrome/Android chief reportedly now oversees all of Google's core products

Google is apparently experiencing a pretty big shakeup today. Mountain View's CEO, Larry Page, has reportedly appointed Sundar Pichai as leader of core Google products. This is a somewhat surprising move, as it adds a lot to Pichai's already hefty plate.

The move will see Google's research, search, maps, Google+, and commerce arms come under Pichai's wing. This is in addition to his current oversight of Chrome, Android, and Google Apps.

Pichai has definitely made a name for himself in recent years as he has quickly accelerated among Google's ranks and gradually taken charge of more and more projects. It will definitely be interesting to see where this move will take the Google executive in the future.

What do you think the possible consequences are of this shakeup? Let us know in the comments.
