Galaxy Note 3

Right on cue, Sprint's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is starting to receive its update to Android 4.4 KitKat, with a 503MB over-the-air update now going out to some devices. The update brings the Sprint Note 3 up to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and introduces some minor visual tweaks, such as white status bar icons in place of the colored graphics of old.

KitKat's arrival on the Sprint Note 3 is part of Samsung's U.S. release plans for Android 4.4 — the latest version of Android is due to hit 14 phones and tablets on U.S. carriers in the near future.

Look at the title.....

Sprint Mate!!!!

MERCDROID says:

You're joking, right? A quick look at the title of the article would have answered your question.

Mine is downloading here in Central Florida!

SilverGW says:

Hoping to get it here in Washington (State). I'm with US Cellular, so will still be a while, but at least its in the USA finally and hitting our carriers! Lucky to Jeromegotevo4g, and Gator352, what carrier are you two with?

Gator352 says:

Sprint.

What's hilarious is that my wife has the S4 and it's been pushing out now for weeks and she hasn't received it yet.

Have you all tried trying to get yhe update through Kies

Been running 4.4.2 here in the UK for around 3wks now. Mind you I did flash the Poland firmware (I got impatient).

I find that it's faster and I'm sure that is not a placebo lol little improvements such as the camera quick access on the lock screen & also being able to select your default launcher and messaging app.

I have rooted and flashed foxhound ground zeroes 2 and it's made a huge difference to the performance and battery life :-)

TenshiNo says:

You could always select the default launcher and msg app. That's been a feature of Android for quite some time...

Somebody give Graeme Duncan a cookie. Go Sprint...new you would be first.

No D at the end. I am on the same build as you, but it should be nothing to go to the "official" when a flashable zip comes out.

focr6 says:

Well there is, even the Odin version to take u straight to nab from mk2.. But I am having no issues with NABD, so I'm not even gonna bother.

I guess Amazon knew I was looking for an update on my Note 3, so they gave me an update on the Amazon App store. Lol

No art..no camera on lock screen..wth? Can barely tell it was an upgrade..

Posted via Android Central App

NoNexus says:

Your right about no ART but your wrong about everything else. Camera is on the lockscreen and it is a decent upgrade. There was nothing all that huge in the JB-KK upgrade anyway.

c1971ace says:

The camera option is on my lock screen....

This is where T-Mobile needs to step up to make their UN-carrier transition complete. Because if your great plans and phones aren't getting updated as expected, then you might as well give up.

voiceonly says:

How come my Verizon N3 hasn't got the update? I keep searching for it and nothing.. this sucks.

yes, it's a joke, I know it's a Sprint roll-out. WIth that said, I should get my Verizon one sometime mid-quarter 2015 just before they discontinue the phone

Any word on AT&T?

NoNexus says:

Been on it for a bit but I am glad to see the official rollout.

I guess it is time to start backing things up to go stock for awhile!

Great job Sprint/Samsung.

Dronak says:

Thanks for the info. I did a manual check earlier, and there it was. It took ~45 minutes or so to download, then a longer than normal boot up to finish updating, but I'm running KitKat now. There are two things I hope this fixes -- the flaky WiFi connection issue and the erroneous KNOX notifications. Does anyone know if it does?

ntborg says:

Verizon trolls the forum uses sprint as guinea pigs. Doesn't kitkat break apps to sd? If so how can I avoid updating or turn off the you have a new update crap?

I had an issue with the SD card before 4.4. It would cause my screen wake to take about 7 seconds and I constantly got an error saying sd card unmounted.

mrseanp says:

Just got the update this morning. Was not notified that I had an update. I checked and the update was there. It took about an hour. I am in Corona, Ca

iamjasoncid says:

Posted via Android Central App

The update is about 500mb and it literally takes about an hour to download. They must be limiting the download speed so more people can get it at once.

Kenj122 says:

I searched for mine this morning, and it was there. Took it about 45 minutes to go through the process, but it's faster than before.
