Sprint Galaxy Note 3 KitKat update now rolling out

Right on cue, Sprint's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is starting to receive its update to Android 4.4 KitKat, with a 503MB over-the-air update now going out to some devices. The update brings the Sprint Note 3 up to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and introduces some minor visual tweaks, such as white status bar icons in place of the colored graphics of old.

KitKat's arrival on the Sprint Note 3 is part of Samsung's U.S. release plans for Android 4.4 — the latest version of Android is due to hit 14 phones and tablets on U.S. carriers in the near future.

  • Yaaaaaaazzzzzzz!!!!! I'm off today and I get a sweet treat!!!! The download has begun!!!
  • what carrier are you with?
  • Look at the title.....
  • Sprint Mate!!!!
  • You're joking, right? A quick look at the title of the article would have answered your question. Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.
  • Mine is downloading here in Central Florida!
  • Hoping to get it here in Washington (State). I'm with US Cellular, so will still be a while, but at least its in the USA finally and hitting our carriers! Lucky to Jeromegotevo4g, and Gator352, what carrier are you two with?
  • Sprint. What's hilarious is that my wife has the S4 and it's been pushing out now for weeks and she hasn't received it yet.
  • Have you all tried trying to get yhe update through Kies ~My $0.02~
  • Kiev never works. I updated my mom's S4 by searching for the OTA online.. Posted via Android Central App
  • Been running 4.4.2 here in the UK for around 3wks now. Mind you I did flash the Poland firmware (I got impatient). I find that it's faster and I'm sure that is not a placebo lol little improvements such as the camera quick access on the lock screen & also being able to select your default launcher and messaging app. I have rooted and flashed foxhound ground zeroes 2 and it's made a huge difference to the performance and battery life :-) Posted via Android Central App
  • You could always select the default launcher and msg app. That's been a feature of Android for quite some time...
  • Somebody give Graeme Duncan a cookie. Go Sprint...new you would be first. From my Note 2 to you
  • Please I'm f@cking starving lol Posted via Android Central App
  • Just updated..nice! Posted via Android Central App
  • What's the build? I'm on NABD, leaked version from xda Posted via Android Central App
  • N900PVPUCNAB No D at the end. I am on the same build as you, but it should be nothing to go to the "official" when a flashable zip comes out.
  • Well there is, even the Odin version to take u straight to nab from mk2.. But I am having no issues with NABD, so I'm not even gonna bother. Posted via Android Central App
  • I'm looking forward to all the custom roms based on official KitKat. A lot more stable and no bloatware. Posted via Android Central App
  • I guess Amazon knew I was looking for an update on my Note 3, so they gave me an update on the Amazon App store. Lol Come on T-Mobile ~My $0.02~
  • We're next.My 0.02 :-) Sent from my Note 3 rockin Jelly Bean 4.3

  • I got kit kat on my Note 3 and yes is really fast.. Posted via Android Central App
  • No art..no camera on lock screen..wth? Can barely tell it was an upgrade.. Posted via Android Central App
  • Your right about no ART but your wrong about everything else. Camera is on the lockscreen and it is a decent upgrade. There was nothing all that huge in the JB-KK upgrade anyway.
  • The camera option is on my lock screen.... Posted via Android Central App
  • This is where T-Mobile needs to step up to make their UN-carrier transition complete. Because if your great plans and phones aren't getting updated as expected, then you might as well give up.
  • How come my Verizon N3 hasn't got the update? I keep searching for it and nothing.. this sucks. yes, it's a joke, I know it's a Sprint roll-out. WIth that said, I should get my Verizon one sometime mid-quarter 2015 just before they discontinue the phone
  • Any word on AT&T?
  • Been on it for a bit but I am glad to see the official rollout. I guess it is time to start backing things up to go stock for awhile! Great job Sprint/Samsung.
  • Thanks for the info. I did a manual check earlier, and there it was. It took ~45 minutes or so to download, then a longer than normal boot up to finish updating, but I'm running KitKat now. There are two things I hope this fixes -- the flaky WiFi connection issue and the erroneous KNOX notifications. Does anyone know if it does?
  • Verizon trolls the forum uses sprint as guinea pigs. Doesn't kitkat break apps to sd? If so how can I avoid updating or turn off the you have a new update crap?
  • I had an issue with the SD card before 4.4. It would cause my screen wake to take about 7 seconds and I constantly got an error saying sd card unmounted.
  • Just got the update this morning. Was not notified that I had an update. I checked and the update was there. It took about an hour. I am in Corona, Ca Posted via Android Central App
  • Downloading the update package!! 20%-------- YAY!!
  • Yaaaay!!! Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.
  • Congrats, Sprint Note 3 owners!!! Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

  • lol. Nice.
  • Is there a changelog available? I'd love to know what new features this brings specifically to the Sprint Note3?
  • Had the update this morning and note it's no longer there. WTF. Posted via Android Central App
  • Does s4 mini duos will get an update? Pleaae reply. Thanks Posted via Android Central App
  • Do a Google search. They said the other day what they have in the works. I am on my phone or I would do it... -------------------------------------------
Kit Kat tastes like Jellybeans. Can't tell them apart...
  • Same here. I was waiting till I got WiFi and then when I got back to my hotel (I'm at the state swim meet) and the update was just gone. It said I was up to date too. In disappointed. Posted via Android Central App
  • Come on AT&T, it's your turn.
  • This is why the new Sprint by Softbank is the best!!!! Bring on all the haters.
  • Does s4 mini duos will get a update? Posted via Android Central App
  • The update is about 500mb and it literally takes about an hour to download. They must be limiting the download speed so more people can get it at once.
  • I searched for mine this morning, and it was there. Took it about 45 minutes to go through the process, but it's faster than before. Posted via Android Central App
  • here in NJ still no update patiently waiting
  • They pulled it. Posted via Android Central App
  • Here in Az with my S3 waiting for my kitkat. Anyone else getting it here? Ive been looking on how I can speed up the process.
  • Thanks Sprint. Kit Kat is a very tasty treat Posted via Android Central App
  • Downloading right now in Southern NJ. I'm at 10% with 56 minutes to go.
