Seidio OBEX for Galaxy Note 3

Seidio today at CES is announcing a new OBEX waterproof case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

The case sports an IP68 rating, meaning that it’s waterproof for up to 30 minutes at 2 meters. (Far better than you’d fare, we’d say.) It’s also rated against dust, and for falls from 6 feet at different angles.

Also, an anti-reflection glass protects the camera lens without getting in the way of your precious selfies. Waterproof membranes protect the speakers and microphones, and rubber stoppers keep the phone’s USB and headphone ports clear of debris. And the case does all this without getting in the way of NFC signals.

The case itself is $79.  Another $10 will get you a holster as well.

$80 for a case is just beyond outrageous!!! I'm happy with the DualTek case I bought on Amazon for my S4, that doesn't add an immense amount of bulk to it, and it only costs $19.33, within the real of reasonable.

$80 is certainly a little pricey, but I don't know if I'd go so far as "outrageous" for a *waterproof* case. I paid about $40 for the Seido case/holster combo I've got on my Note 3 right now, but it's just their surface model. A lot of the "cheap" cases out there are exactly that. You usually have to pay for quality.

$80 for a phone case...someone is crazy! I wouldn't pay that for a tablet case!

This is pretty much a tablet case.

NOT CRAZY or even over priced.. otter boxes are starting at 69 and i already lost trust in those, they don't do the full protection as describe ... and its crazy to want the best protection for your device? that is equal in quality and value to a new tablet/laptop these days? NOT ATTTT ALLLL....ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU PAY 900 $ out of contract out of pocket cost for the note 3 so you DIDNT get screwed with a HIGHER bill then originally having even when signing new 2 yr as well as loosing Verizon unlimited data... and hotspot... 80 is chump change for the replacement of the device and just how easy it is to knick the edge/get a scratch... even s pen sometimes before case, i felt was making perm marks on screen. THIS IS A DEAL AND A HALF... totally worth it..

Is it just the case or is it the case that charges the phone also

VivaBeavis says:

How is the S pen accessible with a waterproof case?

NoNexus says:

Looking at the image, there is a "door" for the s-pen in the bottom.

VivaBeavis says:

I see the "door" you are talking about. I wonder how cumbersome it will be to use, given the fact that water in the s pen hole would likely kill the phone. The door must fit very securely.

Paul Simiyu says:

$60 gets you a 10,000mah extended battery, otterbox type case, screen protector and holster.
I'd rather not.

I just spent $45 on the Otterbox Commuter case for my Note 3. I'll pass on this one...for now.

Thes definitely puts this phablet into tablet territory.

A little too late. My slim armor view case is already in the mail. Wish they would have had this a month ago.

I'll pass and perhaps wait until Lifeproof comes out with a case... but that's if they do.

If its anything like Lifeproof, here go my 80 bucks - where do I sign up? :)

I've done quite a bit of ocean swimming with a Lifeproof case, when I had an iPhone 4s, and it works just as advertised.
