After the Tizen-based Samsung Z1, the manufacturer is once again targeting the budget segment in India, this time with the Galaxy J1. According to an image shared by Amazon India, the device will make its debut in the country tomorrow, February 11, and will be retail for Rs. 7,199 ($115).
In terms of specs, the Galaxy J1 features a 4.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) display, a Spreadtrum SoC that includes a 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A7 CPU and a Mali-400 GPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, microSD card slot, 5 MP camera at the back, 2 MP shooter at the front, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1,580 mAh battery. There's FM radio and dual-SIM functionality as well.
The specs on offer are par for the course when it comes to what is being offered by international vendors in the budget segment, but with manufacturers like Xiaomi and Asus offering much better hardware at a lesser price, it remains to be seen whether Samsung manages to find any significant attention from consumers with the Galaxy J1.
Amazon has also mentioned that there will be several exciting offers bundled along with the device, although the exact nature of what will be included was not divulged. It is likely we'll see premium content being given away for free, much like what Samsung has done with the Z1.
We'll get to know all the details in a day's time. Anyone looking forward to the Galaxy J1?
