Galaxy Mega

6.3-incher will go for $349 with instant rebate, says carrier

MetroPCS has announced that it'll carry the 6.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega from next Monday, Nov. 25. The Mega is the largest Samsung smartphone that can reasonably still be called a phone, with a 6.3-inch, 720p LCD display. Powering the device are Galaxy S4 Mini-class internals — a 1.7GHz dual-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel rear camera. There's also a sizeable 3200mAh removable battery to keep things running. On the software side you're looking at Android 4.2.2 and Samsung's current TouchWiz UI and software suite.

Here's what we had to say about the Galaxy Mega in our full review of the international version —

"The Galaxy Mega isn’t for everyone. And unless you have very specific needs, and (literally) deep pockets, you probably won’t be able to use this 6.3-incher as your primary smartphone.  Yet we've found our time with the Mega surprisingly enjoyable, and somehow we've come away convinced that there is indeed a place in the Android world for this kind of device."

The regular price for the Samsung Galaxy Mega on MetroPCS will be $399, but new customers will get an instant rebate of $50, bringing it down to $349 plus tax.

Today also sees MetroPCS expanding into fifteen new markets today, expanding its reach to 45 markets.

  • Albuquerque - Santa Fe, NM
  • Cincinnati – Dayton, OH
  • Columbus, OH
  • Denver – Colorado Springs, CO

MetroPCS announces Samsung Galaxy Mega, available Nov. 25

Full priced phones, no contract, cheap plans. $60 for 2.5 GB a month. The savings make up for paying full price.

I'm sorry, you're right. I was thinking of T-Mobile's pricing.

I wish they would make a 6.3 Tablet.... Without the phone radios and at an affordable price point...

well i have just paid for this phone galaxy mega 6.3 from and it took less than 2 days to get from hong kong to united kingdom and overall it is an exellent phone and the size is good if your nearly blind.

me neither, definitetly Samsung could use all this "hey let make another phone! yippii!" - energy to provide new
software updates for us. For example my note 10.1 has still android 4.1.2!

Ya it needs to be better spec'd it is essentially a tablet with cell radio so it makes a little sense, no need for a separate tablet plan that other carriers like to bleed out of customers who want a tablet without the need for wifi and for those afraid to tether for free or don't know you can tether by avoiding the nickel and dime routine.

This is wonderful for the disabled people who can't see well, and for the elderly. Thank You MetroPCS!

As we are now Cousins by Marriage,
Congrats to your New Offspring MPCS.. :-)
Fantastic Price Point as well.

T-Mobile.. Forever.

They should make a galaxy player version of this. I love my Samsung Galaxy Player 5 but would like more updated specs for it.

I would purchase this phone if it has better specs! Maybe I'll consider it when it's second iteration comes out next year! It's perfect for gaming with that screen and media consumption! Who needs a tablet when you have this Mega?
