Indian smartphone fans are in for a treat this week, as both Samsung and Sony get set to launch their latest offerings in the country. Sony will kick things off by launching the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact on September 25 in a media event in New Delhi. Samsung, meanwhile, is scheduled to launch the Galaxy Alpha on September 27.
Sony's invite, which features the tagline, "The time to demand great is coming", does not mention the devices the manufacturer intends to launch, but it is expectted that Sony will launch its next-generation Xperia devices at the event. The Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact are on the cards, with Sony already launching the budget Xperia E3 in the country earlier this month. There is no word yet on when the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will be announced in the country.
While we have no word on the pricing, it is likely that the Xperia Z3 would retail for around Rs. 49,999 ($820), while the Xperia Z3 Compact is estimated to cost Rs. 38,999 ($640) in the country.
Samsung has also not mentioned the Galaxy Alpha by name, only stating the it will launch the "Next Generation Stylephone", clearly alluding to the metal-frame and the design of the Galaxy Alpha.
Although an official price for the device has not been announced, the Galaxy Alpha is estimated to cost over Rs. 35,000 ($575) in the country. The device will be available in White, Gold, Silver, Blue, and Black color variants.
