Droid X Gingerbread Soak

Hey, look at that. It's none other than the about screen from the Droid X Gingerbread "soak test" that's pushing out this morning. Same Android 2.3.3 as the previous leaked Gingerbread ROM, but we're up to a higher build number. No surprise there, right?

Anyhoo, figure the soak test should last through the weekend, but it's always possible that Moto could decide to pull the trigger sooner rather than later. And this being a Blur phone, you can actually manually pull down updates, if one's available. Go to Settings>About>System Updates to give it a shot.

And don't worry: Root's already been obtained. :p

Droid X Gingerbread update pushing out in 'soak test'

2.3.4 has support for video chat in Google talk for phones that have front facing cameras. Since the Droid X doesn't have a front facing camera 2.3.4 isn't necessary.

Glad that root has already been obtained, but I am still going to wait for verification that some other things work (wireless tether, Netflix, etc.) before I take this update. If they really did block them, I am happy starting on Froyo permanently.

I don't abuse it like a lot do. I just use it for situations like downloading a book onto my Nook Color when on vacation. Not having the option with Gingerbread would be a dealbreaker for me.

I have bloat frozen so I won't get the update unless I want it.

I kinda wish someone would just post the update.zip for the rest of us that don't really care about having root.

I have a rooted Droid X. Live on the west coast. Still no update for me. Is it because i'm "rooted"? Do I have to SBF back to unrooted to get the update? I want this so badly.

It might work if you're rooted stock and haven't touched any system files. In other words if you just have root and superuser and haven't removed any bloatware. Any other situation and yes, you'd have to SBF to get the OTA. TBH is working on upgrades for people that are on .340 rooted or any GB build higher than .573. If you're on .573 you'll either have to SBF back to .340 or upgrade to a higher GB build like .588 or .595

I'm on stock froyo just rooted with z4Root so I can use Titanium Backup (omg what an awesome app). I haven't deleted any bloatware.

Im so tired of "EWWWW GINGERBREAD IS COMING, GINGERBREAD IS COMING", "F" it, I got tired of reading all the suck ass blogs, oh big red is gonna release today, moto that, Verizon this, and thought to myself, screw it, and put .595 on my phone. Screw Verizon, screw Motorola.

Big thanks to tbh for releasing the leak I have, who apparently has no problems releasing things unlike the wonderful big red and Motorola, and I put most of the blame on big red.

I've been on. 595 for awhile now and not to worried about this update either but don't understand why you are getting all whiney about people being excited about it. Not everyone has the motivation to root and flash their phone so let them be excited and let the blogs keep them informed.

Mirror 3 doesn't link to a download anymore, just a Verizon ad. My phone is completely stock and it says to reboot to Clockwork Recovery. I'm not sure how to do that....

Then you download the rooted and odexed, deodexed or stock Gingerbread. All the instructions are in the 1st post.

Since putting .595 on my phone, bootstrap for the DROID2 now doesn't want to work. I had .588 on it and bootstrap worked then.

the directions on how to install the update from the link posted above show that I need to reboot to Clockwork Recovery....I don't know how to do that since my phone is stock. I'm trying to follow the directions 100% so I don't brick this thing :)

So, while we're waiting on the "Official" Droid X Gingerbread update which has been in the works forever (it seems), the Droid Pro started getting their GB update. It seems like they might have gotten priority. Guess I should have just left the GB leak instead of trying to make my phone legit.
