The Amazon Echo connected speaker keeps adding new features with its weekly updates, and the latest one allows it to play games with its owners.

You can go to the Skills section of the Alexa app to enable some games that are fun for the whole family:

  • Bingo - Enjoy a game of Bingo anytime you like! With the Bingo skill, Alexa will call the numbers for you. Just ask: "Alexa, open Bingo."
  • Trivia Alex - Trivia Alex is a fun multiple-choice trivia game to play at home with up to 4 people and your host Alex. Just ask: "Alexa, open Trivia Alex."
  • Math Puzzles - Math Puzzles is a fun way to challenge yourself and your friends. You'll hear a series of numbers and you must guess the next logical number in the sequence. Just ask: "Alexa, ask Math Puzzles to play a game."

You can also say things like, "Alexa, rock, paper, or scissors?", "Alexa, flip a coin." or "Alexa, pick a card." to the Amazon Echo and have it respond accordingly.

A new third-party skill called Automatic is now available for the Echo. It's used with the Automatic Car Adapter which connects to a vehicle and allows Echo users to get information about their cars by asking things like, "Alexa, ask Automatic if I need gas." or "Alexa, ask Automatic how far I drove last week."

Finally, Echo users can say, "Alexa, play Indie for the Holidays from Prime Music." They will then be able to listen to a curated list of original holiday songs from 27 artists.

The Alexa app can be found on the Google Play Store right now, and you can pick up an Echo speaker directly from Amazon for $179.
