Amazon has the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5-inch Tablet on sale for $279.99 right now in both black and gray. This is one of Samsung's newer tablets, which was only just released a few months ago. Being so new, we haven't tracked any big previous price drops on it.

This 10.5-inch tablet has a 1200 x 1920 LCD display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450 processor, and 3GB of onboard RAM. Those certainly aren't the most impressive specs around, but they're more than enough for running the usual assortment of apps and games. There's 32GB of storage, and while that's not a lot on its own, you can expand that up to 400GB.

If you want to expand your storage, which you probably should, pick up a microSD card while they're on sale. You might want to grab a case too, to protect that big display.

Going back to the tablet itself, other specs include up to 14.5 hours of video playback on a single charge, quad speakers that are powered by Dolby Atmos, and Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Unlike the Galaxy Tab S4 that Samsung wants to be your ultimate mobile workstation, the Galaxy Tab A is designed to be a device used primarily for media consumption. If you want to check Twitter, stream YouTube videos, and play some light games, the Tab A is a great device. Plus, thanks to the special Samsung Kids software, you can hand it over to the kiddos and know that they'll only have access to content that's safe for their young eyes.

No, this isn't the most powerful or exciting tablet you can buy this holiday shopping season, but if all you want is something that's affordable and works well, it's awfully hard to argue with it.
