TELUS

Sometimes getting information from the carriers on device software updates is a painful process. They either don't know, won't tell or ignore the concerns altogether. TELUS in Canada is looking to change that just a little by adding some transparency to their device update process. TELUS has now launched a new site that highlights all the most recent and known upcoming device updates for not only Android devices but also their complete lineup as a whole. Sure, some slots still just simply say "Coming Soon" but clearly, TELUS is committed to at least acknowledging when updates are coming and that folks, is better than saying nothing at all. You can check out the new site via the link below.

TELUS sets up new site to keep customers informed about software update release dates

What makes anyone think this site will be updated by any knowledgeable person on anything approximating a timely basis?

Sorry to tell you but VZW is clue less.......... They know nothing about websites, oh sorry they do know how to get their $$$'s online.

Can't find anything new for a website to this software update website. Only the old one they have had forever that still doesn't even show software updates for the Galaxy Note or Galaxy Nexus. A link would be appreciated?

Their are many reasons to move to Canada but Telus is not one of them !!!

Example of why:

I have a Galaxy Note from Telus ... according to some rumours ... the Galaxy Note will be getting and ICS upgrade. MORE ...Samsung Canada officially announced it last week in a press release.

... Telus who sells this phone does not even show it in its lineup of phone with an upcoming potential upgrade...

Another example would below advertise LTE speed ... even in areas where they offer LTE. On their current web site they advertise for 2011 speed up 42MPS ... in reality in test I did I was lucky to get 6 or 8 MPS ... IN TELUS LTE SERVICED AREAS ... ie: parking of TELUS in Montreal (Ville St-Laurent)... I have to admit that was in APRIL 2012 ... not 2011... maybe they downgraded since !!!

Really? I get 6-9Mbps on Telus' 4G network on my Note in a non-LTE part of Ontario. To be fair, do I need 42Mbps? I can't think of anything I'd want to download on my phone that would require those speeds in the first place... but maybe I'm the odd one out.

I bought this phone Galaxy Note from Telus for two reasons pertaining to network speed:

1) To use the phone as a WiFi Hub.

I use the cell phone to link my PC to the Internet when I am at customer location or doing a conference. Speed of network is essential in my line of work. TELUS WITH THE GALAXY NOTE DO NOT DELIVER ... 4 to 8 MPS dribble down to 300 to 600 KPS (THAT IS A "K" NOT AN "M")...

2) To use the phone during my business travel as a GPS and a access the Internet

The GPS is OUTSTANDING

ACCESS to the Internet is on the other hand ACCEPTABLE TO PASSABLE no more.

BUT WHAT REALLY GETS ME IS ADVERTISED PROMISES TO GET THE BUSINESS THAT THE COMPANY DOES NOT LIVE UP TO ... THAT I HAVE TO SAY "P... OFF " A LOT. ... IS IT FRAUDULENT ... I AM NOT A LAWYER BUT I WOULD LOVE TO TEST IT IN COURT.

PS: I have informed Telus of this situation twice ... one agent never got back to me ... the second agent sent me an email to their Q&A of which none were pertinent.

TELUS ASSISTANCE IS AS GOOD AS THEIR NETWORK ... STAY WITH OTHER VENDORS.
