Samsung has launched the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India, with both devices going on sale in the country starting April 10.
All three storage variants of the Galaxy S6 — 32, 64 and 128GB — will be made available, with the lowest storage version costing Rs. 49,900. The 64GB model will set users back Rs. 55,900 and the 128GB Rs. 60,900. Customers interested in purchasing the device will be able to choose from white, black, gold and blue.
Coming to the Galaxy S6 edge, the device will also be offered in 32, 64 and 128GB, unlike the UK, where the device is only available in 64 and 128GB flavors. The 32GB Galaxy S6 edge will cost Rs. 58,900, the 64GB for Rs. 64,900 and the 128GB for Rs. 70,900. A point of differentiator for Samsung in India is the price parity with the iPhone 6 Plus, with the highest storage variant of the Galaxy S6 edge costing lesser than the 64GB iPhone 6 Plus, which is listed for Rs. 72,900.
Pre-orders for both devices are now live, and Samsung is offering a slew of incentives for customers buying either device during the pre-order stage. Included is a one-time free screen replacement service within the first twelve months of the purchase of the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge.
Should Samsung initiate a price cut within the first six months, pre-order customers will be eligible to receive the price difference from when they bought the device in the form of Payback points, which is a popular loyalty service in India.
