Samsung will bring its Tizen-based smartwatch with a curved screen — the Samsung Gear S — over to the UK, on Friday, November 7, for the price of £329. That's this Friday, as in two days from now.
Samsung says the smartwatch will officially reach the UK on the same day that it goes on sale in the US. At first, the Samsung Gear S will be sold through wireless carrier O2, Samsung's own Experience Stores, and the Samsung.com website. More UK retailers will sell the smartwatch in the weeks ahead.
One UK retailer, Unlocked Mobiles, announced a few weeks ago their plans to take pre-orders for the Samsung Gear S with shipments beginning October 24 but a quick check of their website today shows that orders of the Gear S placed through them aren't expected to ship November 11.
The Samsung Gear S has a 2-inch curved AMOLED display, along with a 1 GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. As if that wasn't enough, it also has a 3G-capable cellular radio so you can use it without a smartphone. It might not be Android Wear, but the Gear S is an impressive smartwatch in its own right — who's thinking about picking one up?
