Android 2.2 on the Nexus One

For those of you who are running rooted and ROM'd Nexus Ones with a custom recovery module -- either Amon Ra or ClockworkMod or the like -- it's now stupidly easy to upgrade to Android 2.2 Paul at MoDaCo did the legwork. All you have to do is download his patched (and already rooted) version of Froyo, slap it on your SD card, and apply it per usual through the Recovery. No muss, no fuss, and you'll even keep your current settings, and it's a hell of a lot easier than rolling back.

Is this wise? What else has been done to that version? Its it T-Mo, or ATT?

It works just fine. Wouldn't have posted it if that was not the case. Please don't spread FUD.

Will this version work with AT&T N1's?

Yes. It will, and it does. It's what I'm using. (The only difference between the two phones is the radio.)

Krak-a-Lakn says:

I see. I've been thinking about it, but I would rather not root my N1. I want to keep the warranty intact. So, I gues I'll have to wait and see if there's a AT&T version posted.

if I flash this can I flash back to Cyanogen?

weehooherod says:

YES!!! I didn't want to put Froyo on my N1 because I new that I'd want to roll back to CM 5.0.7 shortly afterwards. Now I can play around all I want!

Can this be installed onto a Motorola Droid without faults?

veldargk says:

I believe the title says moddem Nexus One. Not modded Moto Droid :p.

And I do believe it's time for all the 'once your Nexus One gets Froyo first, then you can say you have a better phone. Signed, beloved Droid user.' flame to stop. I hate to say it, but I told ya so :)

Motorola Droid users will have to wait. I'm sure someone will figure out a way to port it soon enough, though.

This worked great. There was so much info out there in the last few hours, I was confused on what to do about my AT&T Cyanogenmodded phone. Perfect :)

USB and wi-fi tethering is great. And for something on linux to work perfectly right away, as usb tethering did, I'm sooo happy.

I'm AT&T but I cannot get the zip file to finish the complete install. It starts then stops. Help please

It doesn’t work on EPE54B models running version 2.1-update1. So anyone who bought their phone in the last month or so. THIS UPDATE WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU. You will get the Status 7 error as I did.

trixnrice says:

that is not true. i just installed and i updated from my rooted epe54b build att n1. its freakn fast and new features are awesome. some 2.1 third party apps are not working, or force closing to frequently. sms native app is bugged. other than that, this froyo update is sweeeeet. good look.
