Verizon's Moto X launch date set for Aug. 29 per this leaked Best Buy inventory screen

While nothing is official until the folks at Verizon say it's official — and they hate doing that it seems — we've received another inventory screen from Best Buy showing the launch of the Verizon branded Moto X has been set for August 29. Our tipster, who originally had information that the phone was to be sold on August 23, says the phone launch was pushed forward three days.

This puts the Moto X, a device we're assuming will have less Verizonware and NASCAR-esque branding than it's DROID counterparts, a full week past the launch date of the DROID Ultra, MAXX, and Mini. Is this significant? We don't know, but Verizon thinks every decision over before they make it.

Anyhoo if you're waiting for the Moto X on Big Red, we think you should probably set aside a few dollars for the last week of the month. We don't know how many dollars just yet, but when we know more, you'll be the first folks we tell.

Thanks, Anon!

  • So, after all this shifting it's now scheduled to release on the same day as the HTC One on Big Red? I feel Verizon's got at least one more release date shuffle in 'em between these two phones prior to launch.
  • Why are they calling it the motorola m?
  • Could be a character limit on the field (only 14 characters) leaving off the rest of the entry: "oto X"
  • Bye bye GS4. Hello Moto X.
I will check it out first to see how much bloat it has. If it's filled with it, I might await for Google Play version or developer version (paying full price anyway)
  • Rumors saying that the "GPE" that everybody thought was coming is just the device being sold through the Google Play store and not a GPE like the SGS4 and One.
  • Is there any confirmation that the MotoX being sold on the Gp store GSM compatible only or will work on a CDMA carrier like Verizon? Posted via Android Central App
  • Are you sure that screenshot is for the X? see ship date:
  • You see that Model # XT 1060, that's the Moto X.
  • Gotcha, I didn't realize that model # was the X. Too busy trying to determine which phone to get in the next month or two.
  • Wrong model # maybe? Says Motorola M and the date lines up with the original launch of the M.
  • Maybe the text didn't fit, but it should have read: Motorola Moto X "oto X" was probably left out.
  • Could be because the Droids' ship dates have been pushed to the 27th:
  • Last time I buy a phone on vzw if I wasn't already under contract if be gone already. So sick of their bs Sent from my DROID Bionic
  • I'm so sick of companies announcing phones and then waiting months to make them available. If you can't sell it to me don't tell me about it.
  • I agree!
  • pretty much
  • XT1060 is the X.
  • doesnt make sense, the original screenshot said launch date of 8/23 and now the new one says 8/29. Yet your article says "phone was to be sold on August 23, says the phone launch was pushed forward three days." I think you mean 6 days instead of 3. simply math. also, the release date was pushed BACK, not forward. when a phone gets released later than expected its called being pushed back. when its earlier its called pushed forward.
  • 199 for 16gb / 699 unactivated
  • It would make sense that they would have the release date on the 29th, since their Verizon Edge program starts on the 28th. Perfect way to get people to do both Edge and Moto X, which means there probably won't be any real discount on it.
  • This is gonna be great ‎Google 新聞
  • I hope everyone remembers what Motorola did to Photon and Atrix users. Better think twice before dealing with them. They will not hesitate to lie to you about future updates your phone should get, then leave you high and dry.
