Kindle Fire HDX

7-inch HD model just $119, 7-inch HDX version only $179

Amazon has announced a sale on their two most popular tablets, the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD and the 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX. The 16GB Kindle Fire HD, introduced in 2012, normally sells for $169 (that's about 30-percent off) and 2013's Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch has a list price of $229, making this sale about 20-percent off.

While Amazon's Kindles aren't a standard Android tablet, and have no access to Google Play or any of Google's play services, they are very well built and fine pieces of equipment for those who want to use Amazon's services.

This sale likely won't last long, so if you've been considering either now might be the time to act.

119 is a sweet deal, for a 7-inch HD tablet, even if it was originally released in 2012.

I've been really tempted by the hdx ever since it came out, only thing is I don't read books, I'm a web reader, with websites like this, I already own a nexus 7 2013 and an iPad mini retina, also have a G Pad on its way, so I'm trying to justify in my head to buy one or not lol, I have been waiting for the Nexus 10.2, but that's not looking likely anytime soon

Decisions, decisions...... Also need a new phone after my Nexus 5 decided it wanted to relax in the bottom of a drain in bestbuys parking lot......

Interesting how you can buy it ad-supported or not for a difference of ~$15.

Yup. Only thing I hate about the kindles but their are ways to remove them without paying the extra money,

Answered my own question but for anyone else interested;

XDA has a couple different root methods available.

Why go through all that trouble when the Nexus 7 has it at stock?

Maybe, he can't afford the Nexus 7? Just a thought.

Better screen, faster internals, and I subscribe to prime for free media. I also have a kid and I want to use the unlimited kids store for it (which is cheaper with prime). I have a Nexus 7 and don't get me wrong its great, just have been tempted to try out Amazon ecosystem.

Also if you get this deal, make sure you google amex Amazon deal. They are offering $25 statement credit with $75 purchase using an American Express card. Makes this deal even better.

The $50 off is showing applying to the 32gb and 64gb models as well.

Just bought 2 for my grandkids age 7 and 4 also bought a 2 year extended warranty for each. They should love them.
