Verizon's holiday deal takes 50 percent off select Android phones

Verizon is running a holiday promotion for those who are willing to sign a two-year contract with the carrier. Through the deal, Android smartphones priced at $199 or higher with a contract will be discounted by 50 percent, meaning the new, expensive Android flagship you've been eyeing could start as low as $99.

Through regular price drops, most phones are already priced under the $199 threshold and only a few phones qualify for the promotion in Verizon's lineup — specifically the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Motorola Droid Turbo, and Sony Xperia Z3v. Additionally, Verizon is running a special on the Moto X to bring that phone down to $99 as well.

  • I can't complain, but is anyone surprised Verizon is offering these deals on 2 Year Contracts, when Verizon and every other carrier seem to be pushing installment options? Tmobile has already killed 2 year contracts and Sprint said they may too in 2015. As long as deals like this exist, people will still be willing to enter into a 2 year contract. Maybe At&T and Verizon are just happy to have your business either way. Does anyone think 2 Year contracts will ever die?
  • Not a bad deal on the Note 4 if you are willing to sign a 2 year agreement. Posted via the Android Central App
