New Nexus 7 appears in Best Buy circular

Everyone is excited about the coming Nexus 7 sequel, even Best Buy by the looks of this sales circular. We don't get a very good press image of the upcoming tablet, but we've seen that already so we can focus on the details instead. This ad mentions a 1920 x 1200 screen, 16GB of storage, and the same $230 price we reported last week.

It's worth noting that it also says available Tuesday, but we have to remember there is a Tuesday in every week. This doesn't necessarily mean the day after tomorrow, and likely refers to Tuesday July 30, which is a few days after Google's big event in California coming this week. Without knowing the exact distribution date of this flyer, there is a bit of speculation involved.

We're ready, and an appearance at Best Buy on release may mean a little less frustration than ordering from Google Play. We'll know in just a few days.

So, looks like July 30th is the day! Source: PhoneArena (I can't post links)
  • I want the Wifi+cellular version.
  • inb4 complaints about the storage.
  • the best time to start a pre-order is 12 am. many N7 enthusiast will order it at 12 am and the N7 fans in the morning when they see it. this will keep the servers from hammering all at once.
  • Is that a Full HD resolution?
  • Yes. Posted via Android Central App
  • It's slightly higher. 1920x1080 is 1080p or Full HD. 1920x1200 gives you an extra 120px of workspace while allowing Full HD movies to display along with the nav bar. It's the same Idea as all the 1280x800 panels that went into tablets. They could show 1280x720 (720p) movies while still having room for navigation buttons and notifications.
  • Thanks. Having room for nav buttones makes a lot of sense.
  • Looking forward to it. Posted via Android Central App
  • Really excited about seeing this device. The screen is tons better than my current tab which has a 1024 x 600 resolution. The new Nexus 7's 1920 x 1200 resolution is a HUGE improvement. Really looking forward to owning one!
  • I hope T-Mobile carries this. Posted via Android Central App
  • I have a feeling it will.
  • Cant wait to get my hands on one locally!! Side note.... No way in hell will I buy one from Google play.
  • Explain why buddy. Don't leave us on the edge of our seats!
  • Last year's Nexus 7 launch didn't exactly go as planned. Pre-orders were received, after the tablet's retail launch. Posted via Android Central App
  • Ok. Time to sell my N7 to get this new one! Posted via Android Central App
  • so does anyone want to give me a quick recap on how google is able to sell this thing at such a low price? I mean seriously $230? Guess what I'm getting everyone for christmas this year lol. Anyways, what is missing on this tablet that other tablets have? why is the price so low? i know the screen size is smaller, but is that it? I'm to lazy to look up the info so don't tell me to google it ;).
  • I have no idea how they do it. The current Nexus 7 tablet is $200 and is an amazing device with a great processor, and a decent screen. I guess the camera and the screen are what added the extra price over last years model. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • Edit: According to PhoneArena, the current Nexus 7 has $184 worth of parts, and sells for $199. All buyers of the device also get a $25 Google Play credit. That leaves Google with no profit margin on the device itself. How they do make money, is how Google makes money: advertising and Google Play. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • The $25 Google Play credit no longer applies. That ended last fall.
  • And I believe the bill of goods price was produced almost a year ago - those things drop over time just like anything else.
  • Google isn't trying to make a ton of profit, if any off of their nexus devices. It's about getting customers to use their services and spend money through the play store. That's where the profit is. Posted via Android Central App
  • Nexus tablets are the new Christmas catalogs. Posted via Android Central App
  • @chadthebuilder @Illustrator Joe Yea that actually makes a lot of sense. For some reason I forgot the part where they described the original nexus and amazon tablets as media consuming devices. Where as other tablets could be considered media creating and consuming devices. Just barely though. It actually makes business sense for google to do this . I'm sure they make a bundle off of all the music/book/movie/tv purchases that nexus owners make through the google play store.
  • I'm going to pick one up asap from Best Buy love that place! Posted via Android Central App
  • I feel sorry for the people who bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 Posted via Android Central App
  • I was almost one of those people... Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • Most people bought the Note 8 for the pen technology. Does the Nexus 7 have that? And once you've tried 8 inches, you'll never go back to a 7 incher. Yes, one inch does make a difference.
  • I actually prefer 7 inch tablets over 8. My Galaxy tab 2 7 fits perfectly in my jean pockets making it much more portable. Everyone has their own opinion, and that is why we have lots of choices. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • Yes they did but that price will make people say "why did I pay so much". One thing I will say, that hisense pro 7 tablet is nice. Great reviews, decent looks and great specs. If it had an ir blaster I would have purchased already. Via Android Central App from a Galaxy Note 2

  • You're mixing up tablets. The other person was referring to the regular Tab 8.0 (the overpriced, TW-infested, low-spec, S Pen-lacking one).
  • Yep, my mistake.
  • That's what she said.... Posted via Android Central App

  • I'm more surprised at seeing a Nexus 7 in a Best Buy ad.
  • How is that surprising? Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • The nexus 7 was never sold at BestBuy. They screen protectors for it but never the tablet.
  • With that screen resolution, 32 GB memory and a decent battery time, this should be a nice usable tablet.
I own a Nexus 10 and a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, this device will replace the tab 2 with great improvement.I really like the Nexus 10 but it is a little big to hold up while lying down to read, the 7 inch model is better for that.
  • I also own the tab 2 7.0 and I definitely plan on getting the new nexus 7 when it is released. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • It won't be this Tuesday, cause I just looked at Sunday's best buy ad and this is not this weeks flyer. It must be next week 7/30/13
  • I wonder if this will have an IR blaster? I love that feature on my One. :)
  • If this has ir blaster I will definitely consider it. If it has nfc even better. This would be awesome if it could work with tmobile service too. Via Android Central App from a Galaxy Note 2
  • The current Nexus 7 has NFC, so I wouldn't be surprised if this one will also. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • Since Google is pushing NFC for their google wallet ofcourse it will have it. Posted via Android Central App
  • The real question, can I use the case I bought for my old nexus 7. I have a nice portenzo alano I don't want to give up or have to buy again.
  • I doubt it, considering the new one is narrower, slightly taller, and possibly thinner.
  • Plus all the first generation cases don't have a hole for the new rear camera. This new tab also seems a bit taller. Posted via Android Central App
  • very nice, but both bestbuy and play store not support to vietnam :(
  • Darn.. I just bough the existing one Amazon yesterday :-(
  • Can't you just return it? Amazon seems to be pretty easy to return products within 30 days of purchase. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • Didn't notice all the leaks for the last few weeks? Posted via Android Central App
  • Was it delivered yet? If not, cancel the order. If it was delivered, then send it back! Posted via Android Central App
  • one of the best tablets on the market today... unfortunately, no MicroSDXC card slot.... I can never buy a tablet or phone without MicroSDXC slots. Just drove 3 hours @ 70mph... no Verizon or AT&T signal for more than half of that... What are the passengers going to use to watch videos? No internet... Fortunately, my Note 2 and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 each has its own 64GB Sandisk MicroSDXC cars
filled with movies and songs.... so my drive was pleasant without complaints from
    the passengers
  • the wonders of modern technology huh? I have been thinking about purchasing a 64 gig microsd for a while now.I don't watch a lot of movies though nor do I like to really. I don't have the attention span to watch movies. I generally read a lot though. I have a lot of textbooks on my tablet as well.
  • I'm the exact opposite. I have the attention span for movies, but not textbooks lol Posted via Android Central App
  • galaxy s4 for $199.....you sure this is real???
  • It says 'with two year activation' under it, which means that it must be bought on contract. That is the same price it is offered at on most cellular dealers. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy tab with Android 4.2.2
  • You must not be from the states. Here, the carriers for a bright idea to sell us our phones at a fraction of the price, but we're locked into a 2 year contract. Posted via Android Central App
  • Former Best Buy employee here. Their ads run Sunday to Saturday, changing every Saturday night. So, somehow, Best Buy is gonna be selling the new Nexus 7 before Google even announces it.
  • If that thing has expandable storage It'll replace my nexus 7! Posted via Android Central App
  • The restitution alone is enough for me to ditch my Galaxy tab 2. Paid the new peruse of $179, and it's worth the money, but the nexus 7s new screen makes my 1024*600 screen look really bad. Especially for only $50 more than I paid. I do like my tablet, but I'm contemplating waiting a while and then buying the new nexus 7 to compliment my Galaxy tab Posted via Android Central App
  • LOL
  • You mean screen resolution. LOL
  • "Everyone is excited", except those who ALREADY have (old) Nexus 7.
  • My body is ready.

  • wow best buy is finally selling this huh? may have to use my girlfriends employee discount to purchase this :) (if she even gets anything off it, doubt it). sold my original 32gb nexus 7 a few months ago.
  • Probably nothing. There is no profit margin on it.
