Here's our best look yet at the Galaxy Note 7

We're less than two weeks away from the launch of the Galaxy Note 7, with Samsung all set to unveil its next flagship in New York on August 2. Following several leaks of the phone over the course of the month, we're now treated to official renders of the phone in gold, blue, and silver.

The renders come by way of South Korea's Seeko (via SamMobile), revealing dual curved edge displays.

  • Why no black? Every phone I've owned is black. Hmmm... I guess I'll just have to get a black case then...
  • exactly... why can't they just give me a black phone... I have an S6 Edge plus, and it is the dark blue, but is it against samsungs code to do black?
  • You mean something like the Onyx Black version that has already been shown off a few times in leaks? Posted via the Android Central App
  • Me too

  • Blue, of course!!! Posted via the Android Central App
  • Balue!
  • I like the blue too. I hope T-Mobile gets it. Posted via the Android Central App
  • First to say silver here? That's probably what I'd look to get. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Is it the same silver as the S7 is what I want to know. Seems almost grey. I hope it's shiny like the S7. Does that coral blue have gold accents? Yikes.
  • That's what I've always disliked about Samsung phones. That weird mirrored finish especially on the gold and silver is gaudy. I'd much prefer something more matte. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I agree with the gold being gaudy, but I do like the silver. Of course I'm using a Z5P in Chrome.....
  • I own the same phone. Got any tips or anything I should know about the Z5P? I've been using it pretty basic only cuz idk how to really get the most out of it. I bought it for the audio and screen. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I would browse the forums here for all sorts of stuff. I like the phone and it's the first one in a long time I haven't rooted. Use it how you like to, that's what Android is all about, there is no wrong way!
  • You damn trendsetter you...
  • I have the note 5 and I HATE the design of the s pen. I wish they changed it. Posted via the Android Central App
  • No, bring back the flat screen for me, grrrr Posted via the Android Central App
  • Agreed. First they are forcing huge screens on us, which I got used to. Now curved edge screens? No way. Tried the S6 edge and hated it.
  • Who's forcing curved displays on you? There's like 3 on the entire market and the other 497 options are flat screens.
  • There's only one S pen phone, and it now has that moronic curved screen. Samsung makes so many questionable decisions of late.
  • Forcing huge screens? Isn't that kinda the point of the Note line? I remember when everybody scoffed at the original Note, at least until it became a huge hit. ...Joe K.
  • If flat then I'll take the blue for a spin. Posted via unlocked S7 Active on T-Mobile
  • Gimmicky edge screen is a deal breaker for me. Hate it on my edge 7.
  • Same!!! #NeverEdge
  • Agree. They should at least provide a software setting to disable edge functionality? Posted via the Android Central App
  • You don't have to use the edge at all just disable it just like on my gs7 edge of course I use mine Posted via the Android Central App
  • YOu mean you can flatten it out? It's not the function of the edge (which is only using a small section of the edge in the top half - there is a little white bar that is shown there) but the form that is so bad for a Note.
  • I agree... saw it in the T-mobile store and viewed reviews about miss-touches on the edge. Wasn't for me and went with the flat. Very happy with my decision.
  • 2 things...
I am going to get the Note 7. I don't want the edge screen. However, the renders look pretty symmetrical from the side in regards to the curve on the front and back. The S7 edge seemed to have a little more curve on the front side than the back.
Is there some way to disable the edges of the screen in the settings so accidental touches don't occur?
  • Yes, you are allowed to fully disable that feature. I do not use the additional edge features at all. And I am a fan of the curved edge as well. It makes the side bezels seem almost nonexistent and gives a better viewing experience in my opinion. I did have a little trouble with accidentally touching the screen initially with this phone. But after a couple of weeks that barely happens now. But when handing your phone to others to show something, they will have a hard time. I usually just hold the phone and let them watch. I hope that helps!
  • Yes you can disable the edge features unfortunately you cannot disable the edge sensitivity so you will still have issues with inadvertent touches. I had to let go of the S7 Edge because of this but it was all for the better because I'm so much happier with my S7 active. Posted via unlocked S7 Active on T-Mobile
  • I actually like the edge on my s6 edge. If rooted (which I can't on AT&T anymore) you can have any app notify you via edge. it won't even turn the main screen on. it was so good until i needed update. lol Posted via the Android Central App
  • Agreed. It's a failed concept, good for looks (for some), and nothing else. An S pen on the edge of the screen is laughably dumb.
  • Blue for sure Sent from a device beyond your wildest dreams!
  • I will sit out for this release and stick with my note 5. Feeling betrayed... Posted via the Android Central App
  • Betrayed because the Note 7 will have microSD, bigger battery, and IP68 rating? How dare Samsung, those scumbags! Posted via the Android Central App on the S7 edge
  • Feeling betrayed... what an odd and idiotic thing to say. Did the Note 7 leave you at the altar? Did it cheat on you? Did it sleep with you and then leave without even a goodbye? Did you tell it your deepest secrets and then it went on the internet and posted it for all of your friends to see? Did it out you from the closet? Pray tell, how does a phone betray you?
  • lol Posted via the Android Central App
  • Doh! Where did he say it was the phone betrayed him?
  • Cmon Verizon pull that black onyx with your Samsung rollout. v10
  • SMH, Samsung has truly lost its way with the Note line. :(
  • To be frank, the Note is usually based on the S-line phone released in the same year. Like with the Note 4, you can see its design resemblance with the S5 and features carried over from it. When Samsung overhauled their design language, the Note was bound to be treated to the same design as the S6. I'm not necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with you, as different people view the Note-line in different ways. Just wanna share what I thought.
  • Um no. The Note 4 looks nothing like the S5. The note line has always been known to set the standard and push innovation. Posted via the Android Central App
  • While I do agree on the latter somewhat, since the Note does showcase the best Samsung has to offer, it's really not hard to see hints of the S5 in the Note 4, especially on the back.
  • The Note 4 was the exception to the rule. Simply because that was when Samsung went from plastic to metal, the Galaxy Alpha was sort of the metal frame version of the Galaxy S that year. Any other generation the Note line has always been a slightly bigger and slightly squarer version of the S line, with a pen and specs crammed to the max.
  • So why not give it a flat and an edge.
  • If they do, people will complain there are too many choices, if they don't people will complain that they're not getting the version they like.
I'm just making a "wild guess" here, but I'm pretty sure Samsung has the sales numbers on the S7 and S7 edge to compare with.
I'm not 100% convinced myself that it is a good idea to put an edge display on a phone with a pen, however, I can clearly understand why they would do it. The edge display is without a doubt the differentiator that's pushed Samsung to be the biggest selling high end brand in the US this year. Remember, two years ago Samsung was labelled a doomed brand, losing the low end to China and high end to Apple.
  • Too many choices? Have you seen the number and variety of phones that Samsung is pushing out? Why would they look at sales numbers of a phone that is aimed elsewhere. This is a NOTE.
  • You couldn't be more right.

  • Black is beautiful so black it's gonna be. It'll look good next to the gold 7 edge and blue note 5 love me some curves . Posted via the Android Central App
  • It'll be available in gold and silver only. I don't know why Samsung alway teases with other colors when they never release them at least here in the States. Who got their hands on the green or metallic blue on the S6??? Yeah me neither. They'll say that the blue will be available "later". Watch. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Hopefully we'll get all the colors this time . To be frank the carriers are the ones that make that decision on what inventory they want to stock Posted via my gs7 edge in gold are note 5 the beast
  • The blue looks kind. Ugh, but that stupid edge display. I'll have to wait for the reviews, user and tech sites. Posted with my LG G4 6.0 via the Android Central App

  • The blue looks pretty dumb and the gold is played out now. Looks like I'll have to go with silver again unless they release a black version. S7 edge/S2 Classic 4g/One +3
  • Oh I love that blue one! I am so looking forward to the Note 7! I hope it has the IP68 rating. If it does, I'm ordering it as soon as I can! Posted via the Android Central App on the S7 edge
  • I love the blue one Posted via the Android Central App
  • It's almost certain to have ip68 rating . And from what I've seen on YouTube that Iris scanner was fast as hell, that was impressive. Posted via my gs7 edge are my note 5 the beast
  • Silver, hands down! Posted via the Android Central App
  • Can we just get the official specs already!? The Color isnt very important, but the internals are what really matter... Posted via the Android Central App
  • 100% this^^
  • Honestly can't decide between the Gold or the Silver (and this is coming from the Galaxy S5...) I've seen the colors before on other Galaxies though. May have to flip a coin come August 2nd.
  • Tired of black...probably gold or silver Posted via the Android Central App
  • No black? Why aren't we rioting?
  • I hope you're posting from the picket line outside your local Samsung store :)
  • That Coral Blue brings fond memories of growing up back to me. I had a velour blanket that exact same shade. It's long since disintegrated. But that coloring brings the memories flooding back. That said, I may go for Black. Can't fault the classics.
  • Blue looking quite nice to my eyes I came from the gutta, now it's all butta
  • Blue. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I have to admit.. I'm underwhelmed.. Looks pretty much identical to my S6 Edge Plus just with the addition of a pen (that I've never used yet on all 4 of the Notes to-date) and the incremental spec bump Disappointing but good for me I guess that my current phone is still viable. Will probably pick one up when it's a free upgrade though.
  • No one uses the s pen instinctively out of the box.. you have to force yourself to use it the first couple weeks and then after that it just becomes second nature. I haven't had a note since the note 2 and no phone has done it for me since. I absolutely love pulling out the pen and being able to instantly not down a note.
  • *jot since for some reason it won't let me edit my comment
  • Color is one of the least important factors to me. It's something I would only consider after I have already decided to buy the phone based on other factors. If I were getting a note anyway,I'd choose the pretty blue but since it would be in a case, it probably wouldn't show.
  • A bright green one please, to go with my lawn.
  • Wheres the non-gimicky non edge version? That's what I really wanted but if not available I may have to look else where for my next phone upgrade. Was really excited to go from a Nexus 6 to a Samsung note, but that may no longer happen... Posted via the Android Central App
  • Sorry. There isn't going to be a flat version. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Silver this time for me.. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Out of the three id like to pick up a gold one. Posted via the Android Central App with my note 3
  • Blue if available, or Sliver. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I'd say blue or silver. If this is really the Note 7 though, Samsung really stepped it up. Looks gorgeous. :D Posted via the Android Central App
  • Looks as if i will NOT be getting a new Note... Where is black? Those colors are horrible everyone evolved in the color options needs to be fired. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Good thing your not calling the shots at headquarters. The gold and silver where there most popular colors . But to each there own Posted via my gs7 edge in gold are note 5 the beast
  • Black Posted via the Android Central App
  • Silver or black. Tough decision because all my notes have been white Posted via the Android Central App
  • Black. If the blue were darker like the s5's blue I'd get it.
  • I just got my Note 5 2nd week of March. Frankly, I'm tired of having to learn new phones so I believe I will skip this version and wait for the 8.
Love my phone now. I'm good with space because I don't like alot of junk in my phones (using 20 gb). Posted via Platinum Gold Note 5
  • Really breaking the mould there, wow. /sarcasm
  • I'll go with blue. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Safe to say that the Note needs a design refresh Posted via the Android Central App
  • It looks like just an S7 edge with 5.7 inch display with S-pen. No changes on design. Posted via the Android Central App
