Samsung fully unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 2 yesterday, including its official pricing and availability info. The phone costs a hefty $1999, and as of right now, pre-orders are open with regular sales beginning September 18.

The Z Fold 2 is not a phone that everyone will buy, but for those interested in the foldable niche, it certainly looks to be the best offering we've ever seen — even with that exorbitantly high price.

Taking a look through the AC forums, it's pretty split as to who's buying the Z Fold 2 and who isn't.

I just got the N20 Ultra. Hard pass for me.

Yeah pre ordered as well. After tax along with watch 3 and Buds live it's $2256 and if I take $100 off for cancellation it'll be $2156 after tax for the Fold 2, Watch 3 and Buds live. And Rakuten 3% off. Anyway not sure if I'll keep the pre order but wanted to place the impulse order and see the videos over the next few days. Don't want to wait too long and if the limited quantity stock runs...

  • Maybe. Its only 2k. Then again, I might spend that money on an electric bike or scooter.
  • Absolutely not technology in early stages and the cost is way out of line.
  • Already did. Trading in my S20 Ultra came out to be around 1300 which is still a lot. But considering it's their 3rd fold and seems to be impressive on the craftsmanship, it should be worth it.
  • I think I'd be more interested in something like the Z flip or Razr, but I'm not sure i could deal with the crease.
  • I use Verizon & they have it for 84.oo bucks a month? I may embrace, yes it's pricey but very cool. A technological marvel. A very innovative tablet phone & the specs are vastly improved? Maybe, but I am kinda waiting for an included S-pen?
  • Yep. Got the Black and Red hinge Fold 2 as well as Watch 3/Buds Live combo all for $1800 with a trade-in. I am borked now but happy nonetheless.
  • If I can try one out for a few minutes in a store I might buy one, it would only take a couple of minutes for me to figure out if I would benefit from having a foldable, running the s20 ultra 5g now and pretty happy with it but I'm always open to check out something new.
  • I've just got a Note 20 Ultra so no, it's still far too expensive though I do like the form factor so maybe in a few years when prices drop alittle or it replaces the Note line.
  • I don't like to compromise. Phone, tablets, and laptops are all proven devices. I don't want to fold anything. The folding screen tech is a tech in search of an intended use. A folding phone that will fail is the only consumer product they could find for the massive investment in folding displays. A brittle, massive $2K folding thing is about as tone deaf as it gets.
  • I upgraded through my AT&T Next plan from the original Fold. If you can afford 15 months of payments it's a great way of updating only having to pay 50% for each phone. Mine is scheduled to arrive on 9/17.
  • Waiting it out. Never want to be the early owners. What's the rush? My phone works for all my needs. Verizon's pre-order is broken. Can pre-orders go out of stock? If so, I think that's the reason their site is broken for Fold 2 pre-orders.
