Sony

Sony today announced that it's pushing out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for four more devices. They are:

  • Xperia Z
  • Xperia ZL
  • Xperia ZR
  • Xperia Tablet Z

Along with all the base Jelly Bean features, you can also expect Sony's "social camera," new experiences for messaging, smart connect, MyXperia and Walkman, as well as new themes. Plus Sony's thrown in Xperia in Business.

The exact timing and feature set may vary by market, Sony says.

Spot on!

I'm actually really liking sonys big foray into the android world and 4.3 is pretty much up to date they are making awesome phones

Sent from my Nexus 7 2013 or Moto G

What about the xperia s? It's last year's flagship so I would think it would get 4.3 and 4.4. Example my brothers Galaxy s3 was last year's flagship and is on 4.3 and is expected to get 4.4. It's great that these devices are getting 4.3 but it seems like Sony are cutting of its 2012 flagships really early.

Although I don't own a Sony device anymore, I've owned MANY in the past. I had the Z and ZL and in the relatively short time that I owned the ZL that phone got 6 updates, including one software version update. Ever since the Z and ZL were released Sony has been on it when it comes to updates. I'd say they're probably second only to the Nexus program, well maybe third since Motorola seems to be on it now :P I'm happy to see that Sony is really concentrating on the software side of things :)

Yeah, compare that to what they were before and they are doing a greatly better job. There also doing better with hardware.

While it is good to see them step up, a little perspective here.

They are the last to do this not near the first.

Nexus, Motorola, HTC/Samsung, LG , sony

Sent from my wifes phone. Typos are because I hate her keyboard choices. Her bad

that's great they're only getting 4.3 for now. I think 4.3 is by far the least bugged version of Android in all it's history.

I Got a Xperia Z on the Bell Network in canada, were still on 4.1.2 so doubtful we will see it at all.

will have to flash one for the 6603 i guess

Wow. This is almost timely. And for Sony, likely unprecedented. :D

Still want KitKat on my Tablet Z, though.

I like how Sony is doing things these days. Updates have been pushed out in a timely manner after announcing they were working on it.
