Moto E, G and X

We've covered the rollout of Android 4.4.4 to various Motorola devices, including the Moto E, Moto G and latest Droids, but Motorola has come out and named all of the devices and regions that are currently receiving the update. Taking to its blog, Motorola explained that the Moto G is currently getting the 4.4.4 update in both Brazil and India, while the Moto E is picking it up in Brazil, France, Canada and Asia. We of course know that the latest soak test brings Android 4.4.4 to the Droid Maxx, Ultra and Mini as well.

While things still aren't clear on many U.S. versions of devices, and we're still waiting for an official rollout for the Moto X, we can be sure that Motorola isn't sitting idly. That's a good number of software updates rolling out in several different regions, and we know they'll keep it up in the coming weeks as well.

Motorola confirms Android 4.4.4 rollout is well under way

My Moto G says 'your device's software is up to date' everytime I check it. I'm quite confused how you were able to get it.

Just because someone sitting next to you got it doesn't mean you will get it at the same time on the same device on the same carrier. If EVERY device updated at the same time, there would be a huge load on the network and the server hosting the update.

Companies are working on it now. They complained to Google that they didn't have enough time to develop it if the OS was released in the fall, do Google released a preview and all the developer tools during Google I/O.

With the huge difference in battery I get from droid maxx vs my nexus 5 even with android l preview I can only imagine a maxx on android l

Uh, moto was the first to have 4.4 by a huge margin and the first for 4.4.2.
I think maybe you mean the best

I'm guessing you're a Samsung fan like Richard Yarrell? Because their updates are sooooo quick

Yeah but then my towelroot would be rendered unusable :(

nice.. hoping us Moto G owners on boost don't get left behind. but we at least got the 4.4.2 update & there's always XDA to go to for a custom rom.

Motorola getting the 2013 DROIDs updated to 4.4.4 on Verizon - before the Moto X for the same carrier. Impressive.

Verizon is such a roadblock.

Very impressive indeed. I'm not sure if it's by design or just part of dealing with carriers but it's impressive how if you own a Moto device on close to any carrier, at some point you got an update "first", next to a Nexus. The Verizon update for 4.4.2 shocked me. I'm pleased, even being on Big Red.

I hope the comment about Verizon being a roadblock is sarcasm since they are the carrier that has the first non Nexus/GPe phone with 4.4.4.
Becuase if they're a roadblock, what the hell are all the other carriers who have a total of zero non nexus/GPe phones on 4.4.4?
When will people get it through their heads that its the OEMs and not the carriers who are responsible for whatever delays in updates that there are?

to be fair, though it is a more dated example the rollout of 4.4 was more of a monumental accomplishment. I'm pretty sure the vzw moto x beat some nexuses to the update...

Is possible, and probably quit likely that Verizon's and Motorola's success is a combination of stock android and the droid line. As in big red has a huge vested interest in making its flag ship phone look awesome.

That's why the unlocked versions always get the updates first? Oh wait, no, that proves the opposite.

It's the carriers, and that's been proven time and time again over the years. Sometimes we just get lucky that they choose to get some updates out faster than others.

Edit: let me retract part of that... it's the carriers alongside the OEM's *sometimes* - but generally speaking the carriers and their testing are where the buck stops.

I knew it wan't a bad idea to chase down a Moto G to replace my worn down Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro =) Almost no retailers here in Sweden seemed to sell it, but I found one online. Will be nice to get back to a more modern Android, not that ICS is all that bad but having around 350-400MB of app space is getting tiresome. Especially with Play Services now climbing towards the 50MB file size =P

Still no news on plans for that. My colleague's Moto G has been useless on the road since the original Kitkat upgrade. Constantly says No Internet, regardless of signal strength.

Still nothing in UK. I just hope this new update fixes the internet drop outs that my gee has been having. YouTube and play market.

Just got the Moto G LTE 2 days ago for the girlfriend and she loves it! Looking forward to the 4.4.4 update for her. Bring it on Moto! :D

I just downloaded the update. Haven't noticed anything yet. Screen brightness seems to fade from super dim when you turn the screen on.
