Radio Shack promo

While the release date for the HTC Evo 3D is still up in the air, we know the pricing that Radio Shack will have thanks to a Radio Shack promo leaked to Good and Evo.  Off contract pricing is an affordable (comparably) $500, and with a new two-year agreement the Evo 3D will cost you $200 -- unless you're trading in your Evo 4G or Evo Shift 4G, which nets you an additional $100 off.  Yes, that means if you walk into a Radio Shack on the day it's released, and hand them your Evo or Shift, you can walk out with one of the years hottest new Androids for a measly $100 if you qualify.

Kind of makes it hard to say no, doesn't it?

HTC Evo 3D to be $200 on contract at Radio Shack, $99 with trade in incentive

Easily. Although you have to think that there will be a glut of Evos flooding the market as people upgrade, but I'm sure you'll be able to get more than $100 for it. I sold mine last month for $310 on eBay - I'm sure $200 for a good-condition Evo when the Evo 3D launches is a safe bet.

I gree with you! But you`ll end paying $200.0 for the EVO 3D on 2 years contract anyway,so just let them have it for $ 100. as well.

What are you talking about? You're not making any sense. You trade in your old Evo at RadioShack, the transaction will look something like this:

$200 (Evo3D) - $100 (Evo trade-in) = $100 spent.

If you sell your old Evo on eBay for a hypothetical $200, the transaction will look something like this:

$200 (Evo 3D) - $200 (Evo sold on eBay) = $0 spent.

So no, I wouldn't "just let them have [the Evo 4G] for $100."

Exactly! Evos are going for upwards of $260 on Ebay. So by my math, sell your Evo4G, use the money to pay for the phone and the tax, and you've still got enough money left over for a 12 pack of Newcastle.

Or you could just sell your evolution or shift on eBay and use that to cover the cost of the evo3d. Never understood why people actually do this trade ins at stores

What makes you think you'll be able to get a good deal for your phone on ebay after a) the market gets flooded with used original Evos b) the stores mark down the price of the original Evo when the Evo 3D is released?

Good points, but I still think $100 is a little on the low side, even after the Evo market corrects based on flooded marketplace and overall lower priced Evos on contract.

NO, to me it`s a good trade if you think about it, if you get $260 on ebay - ebay % and you have to pay $200.0 for the new EVO 3D, in the end the one who`s giving his EVO as trade in he`s the winner.

The eBay percentage is like 10%, so 10% of $260 is $26. So $260 - $26 = $234. The trade-in value at RadioShack is still $100. So sure, go ahead and trade in your Evo for $100 and leave $100+ laying on the table. RadioShack is counting on suckers like you.

But see, you're missing the punch here...

When you're selling your phone you're selling it OFF-CONTRACT; and to many that is magic.

Hell a $200 off contract Evo is a great deal. If somebody wants to get an Evo without renewing a contract then that is definitely the way to go.

So it wont be "flooded" with cheap Evos...

When I asked at BB a couple days ago about prices the guy printed out the price match policy but also made it clear that it wasn't going to be cheaper anywhere else. FWIW

yup.....thats absolutely right...they are the cheapest with contract prices....but $499.99 full retail isnt that bad tho....i dont mind paying that....ill get 100 for trade in and 75 for early upgrade....i think its worth it....but thats me !!!!

The only thing that will keep me from getting this phone is a signed bootloader, which sadly means I'm most likely not getting this phone. Sucks, cause I really want it. But I will not get a phone I cannot root.

Let's hope so. I know the Thunderbolt would not be rooted now had they not got their hand on a older leaked ROM. I know there has been a leaked dump of the Evo3D already, but not sure if it's enough to allow rooting of the device. I really hope your are right though, cause otherwise I'm going to have to wait for the Galaxy S2 for Sprint.

Rooted and signed bootloader are not the same thing, I really hope they are able to unlock the bootloader for hopes of CM7!

Signed bootloader is fine...it can be rooted. Encrypted bootloader is a different story (Motorola). Motorola actually promised to remove encrypted bootloaders so hopefully companies will not begin to implement them.

Why do you think it's fine? Have you spoken with any Incredible S owners yet? The phones been out for months now and no S-Off because of the signed bootloader.

HTC has plugged the holes in their new lineup of phones. So unless someone gets a hold of an engineering leak, like they did with the Thunderbolt, we might never see perm-root on the EVO 3D. Never as in b4 next year when the next generation of HTC phones are released.

Id be more confident that an engineering leak will surface for this device over the incredible s. Its too popular. Having said that, I wouldn't even consider an HTC phone without the possibility of a undervolted kernel. Battery life isn't HTC's strong point, but fortunately, I've had no issues with my Battsaver kernel for my tbolt. I get roughly the same battery life as my Epic with a bigger battery, smaller/more efficient screen.

BS! Tell that to HTC Incredible S, Desire S and Sensation owners and see what you hear. So far, no ones been able to get a software Perm-Root on these phones because of the signed bootloader.

A free song download! Hahaha!

Hell yes, Im ready for this beast to be let out of its cage! Bring it on! I preordered mine :)

Haha yea, I laughed at that too. They should have put more of an eye-catcher on the Green Hornet movie considering the phone's main draw is the 3D.

More eye catching that the Green Hornet truck bursting through the EVO screen with "Green Hornet" Labeled in huge letters on the bottom?

Well I meant that entire section (with the "without glasses" and all). I barely paid attention to the truck because I've seen all kinds of visuals on screens before on stuff that wasn't 3D (just look through a Best Buy ad and you'll see what I mean). But it could just be me being desensitized I guess...

love my dev phone. gonna have to play with this thing myself before i make a decision but i may end up with the 3d. i did enjoy my evo4g.

Right. I know that I would have to sign a new 2 year contract. But, what I am asking is if you must be eligible for for the upgrade through Sprint. Like when I got my Evo from the shack for $99 I could only get that price because I was eligible to upgrade. Will this be the same?

Hmm. That sounds a like a reasonable offer at RadioShack, however, when I try to browse to www.radioshack.com/evo3d, I don't see any of the information on that offer, or anything related to the evo3d.

On 5/21/11, I went to my local BB store #1107(28273), and was told by two mobile department agents, that they didn't know anything about pre-orders for the evo3d and they couldn't sign me up.

I'm confused why I'm not able to confirm the validity of these offers.

Any ideas?

Wow... Best Buy must not love store #1107.

You spoke to the wrong person, and quite possibly went to the wrong Best Buy. Everywhere's been doing it.

My BB store just started doing pre-orders last week. It seems if you are in a smaller market the stores may not be as upto date as the bigger centers is what I'm thinking.

well the radio shack offer isn't valid yet.
pretty sure if you read the post it says the link isn't up.

#2 your BB is pretty sad if they don't know about the pre orders.
perhaps you could talk to a manager?

Thanks guys for the feedback and suggestions. It's very much appreciated.

You guys have a terrific evening.

I will be jumping ship from T-Mobile to go to Sprint and get the Evo 3D, I just hate having an ETF. ;_;

Sprint will pay $125 when you jump in their store... plus the trade in value...

Sprint store will also trade in your old Evo for $150... I think they win over Best Buy and RadioShack

$125 port in credit when you take your number to Sprint and pick up a smartphone. Offer still going on !!!

Wait ... almost everyone who has an Evo got it last year, which means unless you qualify for the "Gold Memebership", you'll have to pay $320 if you trade in your Evo 4G, right?

I just sent my e-mail. I'm crossing my fingers hoping it works. I don't really NEED a new phone, since my Epic is working flawlessly, but I'm enticed by the specs of the EVO 3D. I'm still not on the 3D bandwagon, but the rest of the specs are pretty BA.

They should give it to you man...everybody I know that has written them has been successful. 100%; nobody has been turned down...

They're probably just trying to ease the pain of the surprise "premiere status" change for those that bought the Evo 4G last year.

Which is still unclear. We KNOW that the price is going up to qualify. But there is no confirmation that 10+ year Sprint customers will still be automatically "Gold" regardless of dollar amount after the summer. I will be calling

Apparently not everybody is getting the free upgrade adjustment. I got a call back from Sprint, and he told me that they couldn't change my upgrade eligibility date, and that I'd just have to use the $75. I told him I'd just keep the phone I have now and explore my options when my contract is up. He sort of fumbled around and said that if I trade in my Epic and use my $75, it would be the same as getting the full upgrade. I told him no thanks, and have a nice day.

I did email yesterday and they called today and I got the full $150, I have the evo and I have been with Sprint since 98 so that's why maybe. My question is though if you do the trade in does that come off on top of rebate or is it a mail in rebate. Just wondering.

I've been with them for 8 years. Since you've been with them over 10 years, you should be a "Gold Status" Premier customer, therefore giving you yearly upgrades. I'm not sure I'll be with Sprint long enough to make the 10-year-mark. The only thing that keeps me there now is the price.

I am a Sprint Premier Silver member and bought my Evo Shift at launch with a new two year contract. I just sent an email to the address above and have my fingers crossed that I'll get the same status upgrade as you.

Please provide an update. For the Premier Silver folks that got the Evo 4g in June 2010, they got screwed two months away from getting their full upgrade under the old program. Shift came out in January(?)...wonder if they'll do the same for people that got screwed "less"

Well, the first e-mail reply wasn't "No". They asked for my pin number so they could review my account. I called to confirm my pin (DOH!) and figured I'd ask the guy that was helping me about the "bump". He said he couldn't do it. Hoping the e-mail route gets a better result.

Just got off the phone with Sprint Retention. I don't know how anyone who bought an EVO Shift is going to be able to take advantage of this deal. What she said was that since I just bought my phone in February, there was no way they could reset my upgrade status this soon. I would have to pay full retail for another phone. She did say they would give me $115 for my Shift. Not good enough. I have another option that might work, though. I bought my phone at Best Buy and they gave me the Buy Back plan for free. We'll see how that works with full retail...

Update: Attention Premier customers – Art here from the Premier teqam. We have been updated by the executive team and they are not authorizing any overrides past 7/31. Customers whose upgrades would have been active prior to 7/31 will also need to have their override requests submitted prior to 7/31 in order to be considered. If you believe you qualify for an override, please send an email to UpgradeRestore@sprint.com with the name on the account and your mobile number today. Thanks, -art

It will be easy to get at least 200 for your evo. Most people don't track release dates for phones like us. I got over 200 for my hero after I got the evo on release day

I am sincerely hoping this means it will actually arrive soon.
I have my pre-order in @RS and am champing at the bit.

The Evo3D kicks ass over the Thunderbolt, and is cheaper? Wow, I guess Verizon really put both feet in their mouths when they jacked up the price of the Bolt under the guise of technology upgrades. That theory hold no water. Why'd you do it Verizon? Do you realize you are selling a Casio Commando for the same price as an HTC, Evo3D? How can you justify it?

It's Verizon, man....why do they do anything they do?

Of course their pricing is inconsistent with the rate that technology advances.

They do it BECAUSE THEY CAN. It is that simple.

And you are right, the Thunderbolt is absolutely pathetic compared to the Evo 3D

hmmm, I wonder if they'll take my Evo 4G with a cracked screen, bad ESN, and doesn't charge.... The rest of it works fine though. I'd love to see what that asterisk is for after the trade-in policy.

I was strongly considering the EVO 3D, but with Sprint and HTC's cold should about the phone I lost a lot of interest while SGSII peeked it. I'm not sold yet, but still tempted. I'll wait until I can see reviews and previews of a final build compared to the SGSII before I decide.

I bought my Evo 4g at Radio Shack on the first day. When Sprints system slowed it took me about 4 hours in Radio Shack to buy my phone. Was it easier to got it at the store?

I think so too. U basically can sell ur evo online probably get like 200 for it and then it would be basically free at the Shack or best buy. I mean u can even sell the HTC HD2 for more then 200 bucks easily. And that is the very first 4.3 inch black slab. But it is a better deal then u normally will see at best buy or any other retailers.

The Green Lantern isn't coming out until June 17th. So I really doubt there gonna launch the evo before that date. Only makes sense to me. I was hoping to get it before that. :(

At first, I took this information as gold, got excited and sent the link to my EVO friends to check this out; but the more I think about it, I am thinking this ad may not be legit.

First what does that website at the bottom of the ad have to do with mobile technology?

Second, I just left the video industry (last month, but still follow trade magazines on rental, theatrical and studio changes) there is a minimum window before a movie can be released by any other form other than theatrical (the shortest recently was 45-60 days, depending on the studio) and if it is released as studios are currently going to try this summer before a dvd street date, there is a premium (which they are suppose to be testing VOD premium same day VOD as theatrical release, but the VOD price is expected to be more than twice that of a theatre ticket) which I cannot see HTC paying a premium to get that movie per device before dvd street date, which will probably be Nov or Dec (which kind of kills the summer release of the phone)

Third, $99 is too much of a good deal to believe (I believe the EVO is worth more than $100 this summer) since the EVO 3D will have one of the best operating systems on the market, I am expecting $249-$299 w/contract.

I hope this is true and was ready to go to Radio Shack first thing in the morning, but after calming down...I think I will wait for official pricing to be released.

What in the hell are you talking about? Your second point makes no sense. Movie per device before dvd street date? Dude, are you high? This is the green hornet which is already on dvd, unless you are getting confused with the green lantern.

ok, i guess I confused the two titles, lol, sorry that was my bad. my info was correct, but, guess the title confused me, i am not a fan of either movie, just saw green ... 3D and didn't realize the older/other title was a 3D movie.

bottom line, i hope this ad is legit...

definiteky getting this but I doubt I will trade in my OG EVO just in case I decide not to keep the phone.

A "real" upgrade? You are an idiot! It is three times the CPU power, at least twice the GPU power, twice the RAM, something like four times the built-in storage, larger battery, better radio, newer Android, newer Sense, supposedly better camera quality, 3D screen and camera (which I personally don't care about), 1080P video recording.

About the only thing NOT a *MAJOR* upgrade about it is the loss of the kickstand.

I got a guy at my job that wants to upgrade but doesn't need to of the line stuff. Selling my Evo to him for $300, and using my Radio Shack discount to buy the 3D unactivated for $474. Less than $200 out of pocket for this thing? #Winning

What a rip off, you can easily get well over $100.00 dollars if you sell your Evo on Craigslist or Backpage. I just looked it up and they are going for $200.00 on average.

Its interesting to note that The Shack will give you up to $179 for your EVO in good condition on trade anyway. So if your EVO is in good shape you could end up getting the 3D for $20 with a new two year contract.

If you do Sprint buyback at any Sprint store the current price for the Evo4g is $150.00 and Shift is $115.00. Radioshack makes a good claim but you can save some extra cash just by going to Sptint :D

although this is true, you have to remember sometimes phones are 200 only at radioshack and bestbuy. Example, it could be $250 with mail in rebate at sprint store but you have to pay 250 up front.

I personally hate rebates and it seems sprint stores and online they do that kind of stuff.

I think 100 is to low but there are those who like the convenience, i myself am not one of them lol

I have had no luck via email getting my status 'upgraded', and I am one of the people who was Gold prior to the program change *and* bought 2 Evo's Launch day.

I am doing online chat with Sprint and running into some issues. First, Sprint keep messing with my primary line number (apparantly when I bought an Epic 4G, Sprint made that line Primary without my permission. Today was the 3rd time I have had Sprint correct it, but their mistake may screw me out of the upgrade. By status upgrade, they are actually calling it a grace period.

From Sprint Rep: "Effective 4/1/11, Sprint Premier Program is being updated to offer two levels of benefits, Sprint Premier Gold and Sprint Premier Silver, based on customer's MRC and tenure. The grace period to upgrade primary line till June 30th, 2010 for customers you were eligible for upgrade on primary line between April 1st, 2011 to June 30th, 2011."

And to top it all off, part of my problem is that Sprint messed up my account last year (I put the account in my wifes names (to get her work discount) in July and Sprint screwed things up and now that date is showing as my renewal date. Grr... I am on hold now...

[UPDATE] being connected to a Supervisor now. Grr...

[UPDATE 2] Supervisor not upgrading me "The Gold status was given to people who had accounts since more than 10 years with Sprint and due to some changes the actual activation date did not reflect on their accounts. These cases were checked and wherever possible and wherever applicable, gold status was assigned."

[UPDATE 3] Now on the phone with the Telesales Team, as per chat Supervisor advisement, since they (customer care) could not help me. I spent 1.5 hours in chat with Sprint so far. Let's see how long the call takes :)

[UPDATE 4] Now being transferred to another department (Account Services), after 15 minutes on phone / hold w/ Telesales.

[UPDATE 5] SUCCESS!! They reset my eligibility (takes 24 hours) so now I can upgrade at anytime with the max discount on my primary line.

So I wonder why a used Evo (Which is an OUTSTANDING phone) would go for more than the price of a brand new Evo3D? Do they know something we don't? Is the OG Evo going to last forever and they know it will while the newer phones will die after 18 months?

UPDATE to my last post with doubts about this radio shack ad.

I just received a phone call from the Radio Shack store that I purchased my Evo from last June, and the voice mail left from my local Radio shack stated they were accepting pre-orders now for $50 and if i trade in my device, I will only owe the $99 w/ 2 yr contract, in which I may apply my $50 gift card to the purchase!

Sprint did override my trade-in to be effective June 1 last week, if your account does not show it yet, just call as ask for the override!

Good news today!!!!!
