HTC Sensation XE

Take the excellent HTC Sensation, toss in the newly acquired Beats Audio, and you've got the HTC Sensation XE. Coming to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia later this month, it's pretty much the same Sensation we fell in love with -- 1.5GHz dual-core processor (OK, that's updated from 1.2GHz), Android 2.3, 8MP camera, and so on -- with the Beats Audio processing, and Beats by Dr. Dre headphones thrown in with an attached remote control.

No doubt we'll be seeing this here in the states at some point, too. At least we hope.

Full presser's after the break.

Update: You eagle-eyed commenters are also spotting more RAM and a slightly bigger battery. So it's a Sensation -- only better!

New 1.5 GHz dual core processor and longer battery life extend the HTC Sensation XE's sophistication and overall experience.

TAOYUAN, TAIWAN – September 14, 2011 – HTC Corporation, a global designer of mobile devices, today unveiled the new HTC Sensation XE – the first in a new line of HTC smartphones to feature Beats Audio technology to deliver studio quality audio. Taking HTC's flagship handset to a new level of high fidelity audio, the HTC Sensation XE offers consumers the ultimate multimedia experience, setting a new standard for audio quality in the mobile market. In addition, the HTC Sensation XE boosts performance and battery life even further with the addition of a blazing fast 1.5GHz dual core processor and an extended battery that enables you to listen, watch, speak and browse for even longer.

"Audio is a crucial part of any consumer's mobile experience and we are continually pushing the audio boundaries to encompass not only improved voice but music, movies and games," said Jason Mackenzie, president of global sales and marketing, HTC Corporation. "The HTC Sensation XE offers a truly incredible experience that demonstrates our commitment to place consumers at the center of their mobile worlds."

The ultimate audio experience

The HTC Sensation XE is the first handset to offer a Beats Audio experience - a combination of software & hardware that allows you to hear music the way the artist intended. When used with the exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones, the handset automatically switches to the bespoke Beats by Dr. Dre sound profile, delivering audio tracks tuned specifically for the headphones.

Whether you are using any of the many music services available in the Android market you will notice fuller bass and crisper vocals and a new level of clarity and range offering audio the way the artist intended it to be heard.

Beats Headphones

The HTC Sensation XE also ships with a microSD card (8GB/16GB) allowing you to carry thousands of songs. The exclusive Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones feature a remote control, allowing you to pause, play or skip through tracks and answer/end calls while the phone is in your pocket.

HTC Sensation XE will be available across EMEA and Asia Pacific from late September

HTC announces the Sensation XE with Beats Audio

1.5 GHz? I thought the Sensation was 1.2 GHz, but this article makes it sound like the 1.5 is on the original Sensation. Oh well.

The original Sensation is 1.2GHz and their upgrading it to 1.5 in the new version, they've just got it slightly wrong in the article (or have simply worded it badly ;) )

i'm hoping for an EVO HD with 5" display and ice cream sammmmmmich and new Sense sometime around Thanksgiving.

Please let me beta test this in the states! Sprint you better get this phone if so I promise to break my bank account to get it and re-up my contract a year and a half in advance!

i don't want to pay extra or lose other specs for Dr. Dre and Beats. i don't want a big ugly logo on my device. i don't want to pay extra for ugly Beats headphones or lose other specs so Dr. Dre can get paid.

but i want an HTC device. i just hope i don't HAVE TO pay for all of this Dr. Dre nonsense via other HTC devices.

yes but the beauty of the free market and competition is that i can just shop elsewhere. and if HTC bastardizes or skimps on the new EVO i just might.

i see what HTC is trying to do here - differentiate their offering in a sea of commoditized Android devices. i just hope there's real value added and not at the cost of other specs or aesthetics.

"But if you try sometimes well you might find
You get what you need."

Just get me that backcover. Thats all I need for now

It is a sweet looking phone, and like above the red does scream Vzw! Love the black and red! Tbolt may need to be put down for this, Bionic didn't sell me. But I will miss my kickstand!

I'm in love with this phone!!! If it comes to VZW, I will get it, flash to straight talk, & be loving life!!

Almost looks like the specs for the vigor. Change the screen resolution...
But I'm not an android phone geek, just tired of my X and the problems since GB and looking to jump to HTC come October.

The RED all over the phone does not mean VERIZON, red and black are beats colors. the color RED is not owned by VERIZON.

Reading > you. No one said "OMFG IT HAS RED ON IT SO IT MUST BE A VERIZON PHONE!!!1!1!!" They are simply stating the red would make it fit well on Verizon. But I'm sure you don't give a crap. F*ckin troll.

are you reading the posts you tard, people are saying red screams verizon. just cause its red dont mean jack. its a color. there was red all over the evo and evo 3d, was that verizon, no.

Why do you have to be such a d!ck dude? If you called names like this in person you'd have been leveled long ago. Quit being such an a$$.

This phone will never be released. Apple will see that they have Beats Audio and sue them saying that they infringed on Apple's patent for overpriced, overrated hardware with great marketing. I smell an injunction.

Like the sentiment but its actually going to be cheaper than the S2's original price when its released, £492 off contract apparently. Apple still have a monopoly on overpriced kit, though I'm sure they'll find a way to sue them, maybe because it makes phone calls and fits in your pocket ;)

The red in the design doesn't mean Verizon, it means Beats Audio. I just hope when this thing comes stateside i can can that back cover and use it on my Sensation 4G. Shit looks hot.

I'm sick of this...
Can anyone tell me why HTC doesn't give more internal memory, while others can?!
I really love the sence UI and the HTC designs but internal memory, glossy screens and mediocre battery life is just putting me off...
