The SanDisk Extreme is a super fast 1TB USB-C portable SSD on sale for $150
By John Levite last updated

The SanDisk Extreme 1TB portable USB-C NVMe solid state drive has dropped to $149.99 at Best Buy (opens in new tab) as part of Best Buy's deals of the day. Amazon has also price matched this deal (opens in new tab), so you'll be able to get it there as long as it lasts at Best Buy. This is a limited time sale that will be gone by tomorrow. The drive normally sells for as much as $240 at Best Buy and can be found going for around $170 or more at other retailers.
This is a newer version of a SanDisk Extreme portable SSD we have recommended before. The older version has gone much lower than today's deal before, but right now it's going for $140 (opens in new tab). That means you can get the newer, faster version for just $10 more.
The portable SSD uses a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 interface. That's an upgrade from 3.1 on the previous generation and ensures a wide compatibility with USB-C connectors including on both computers and smartphones. Because of that USB-C connection and the NVMe technology built into the solid state drive, you can get some really fast transfer speeds, too. The drive has read and write speeds up to 1,050 MB/s and 1,000 MB/s respectively. It is backwards compatible, but you won't be able to reach top speeds without a modern system.
You also don't have to worry about this drive getting damaged while you're out and about. It is drop resistant and can survive falls up to two meters. It's also IP55 rated, which means it can withstand both dust and water. It comes with a silicon shell that's durable and feels great while protecting the internal drive. There's even a Carabiner loop so you can keep it secured to your backpack.
The drive includes password protection and hardware encryption. SanDisk backs it up with a five-year warranty.
