Yesterday was a big day for the Android community. Out of nowhere and with very little fanfare, Google launched the Android 11 Beta for everyone to download and try for themselves.

There's a lot to unpack with the beta, including the likes of chat bubbles, revamped conversation notifications, smart home controls in the new power button interface, and much, much more.

Taking a gander through the AC forums, it looks like a lot of our members have already downloaded and installed the software.

Didn't try the developer previews, installing the public very today https://developer.android.com/android11

  • So far so good. I like the additional functionality in the power button menu. Bummer that contactless pay seems to be borked for some (including me) but not the end of the world. Notification improvements are nice.
  • I downloaded as soon as I saw it was available. So far, I've seen a few bugs, but nothing I can't live with or work around. I've had to reboot twice, but otherwise it's been fine. The notification curtain is sweeeeeeet!!!! I'm definitely having fun playing around with it.
  • Where did that wallpaper come from?
  • Yes, yes I did.
  • Forgot to say, seems faster. ;)
  • Downloaded and installed. Mighty surprised that everything is working perfectly, I closing all banking apps and Google Pay.
Really liking the new features so far. And in general, everything feels that little bit smoother and faster.

  • Yes I did........not.....
  • Yes, I did. Other than contactless pay with Google Pay, everything seems to be working as it should. I love the new notification screen, and the power button menu is even more useful than it is under Android 10. Very subtle but useful changes.
  • Edge is now chromium as well. Yu didnt mention that
