Dell unveils two new affordable Android tablets at Computex

Dell has announced two new Android tablets at the Computex event – the Dell Venue 7 and Venue 8. The company has opted to include HD displays, advanced audio tech from Waves, Android 4.4 "Kit Kat", Intel Atom processors and an interesting design with some functional properties. These tablets will fit into the affordable category of hardware.
Both tablets are available in red and black, and will be joined by a variety of accessories. A new Venue cradle will be joined by a dual-layer duo tablet case, Bluetooth keyboard and portable speaker. If you're looking for a budget tablet, the Venue 7 or 8 may well be up your street.
The Venue 7 and 8 tablets will be available from July 1 on Dell's online store, starting at $159.99 and $199.99 respectively.

Why is "Kit Kat" between quote signs? Is it because Dell thinks it is when is not?

Does anyone even care about these tablets at all?

I am starting looking for the replacement for my Sero 7 Pro, and an affordable 7- or 8-inch tablet is my market. The Sero still does what I want, but the battery is beginning to show signs of wearing out (slower to charge, runs down faster). Posted from my XT1080M

"Does anyone even care about these tablets at all?" Most people are not Android junkies, like the people who hang out on AC and post comments to Android blogs. Most people just want to read books and surf the web, maybe send some emails. For those people, these tablets are just fine.

I'd be very interested in the 8" model. Want to see what the next nexus looks like but heck for $200 for this it could even be another device to just keep on the coffee table. Posted via Android Central App

Does it still have a ridiculous proprietary charging/sync cable?

Nope... Micro-USB 5v 2.0A

Curious to know what "HD" screens means - if they are only 720p then its a no-go, but 1080p and that 8 incher is looking pretty good for the price.

What's with the Skullcandy pic?
