T-Mobile is gearing up for Valentine's Day by offering customers a free tablet, the Alcatel OneTouch Pixie 7, when they sign up for a "qualifying tablet data plan" starting today, February 5. While buyers won't pay anything for the tablet itself, however, they will be on the hook for any sales tax — and a data plan to go along with it.
The regular price of the tablet is $168, or $7 per month for 24 months on an installment plan. To snag the tablet for free, you have to pick it up on an installment plan alongside any Simple Choice data plan higher than 1GB. Each month, T-Mobile will include a $7.00 credit on your bill to cover the installment charge for the tablet. As for the data plan, T-Mobile's current lowest tier for tablets is its 2GB plan, which will cost you $20 per month.
As for what you're getting with this deal, the Alcatel One Touch Pixi 7 packs a 7-inch 1024 x 600 display, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. The tablet also comes running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box and sports a 2MP front-facing camera.
