Nobody likes those overages

Data caps seem to have become the norm in the cellular industry. Sure, you can find a carrier who lets you eat as much data as you want, but most carriers and plans have a limit of some sort. We don't like it anymore than you do, but we'll leave that for another discussion. This time around, let's take a peek at a new quick shortcut to see just how much data you've used that comes with Android Lollipop.

If you're somewhere that keeps you from watching the video, here's a quick recap.

Open the notifications on your Lollipop-equipped Android. Then swipe down again to get to the quick-settings panel. You're looking for your cell data icon, and it will have your carrier name underneath. Give it a quick tap.

Data usage

Pretty nifty, eh?

You can tap the "More Settings" text to be taken to the data usage settings, and "Done" exits the panel.

If you're stuck with a data cap like most of the rest of us, here's a quick way to make sure you don't go over. We're digging into all things Lollipop, and we'll keep bringing more tips, tricks and how-tos because we love doing them as much as you love reading them!
