What you need to know

  • Samsung's Galaxy S10 series phones have started receiving the August 2020 Android security patch.
  • Currently, however, the update is only available in Germany.
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 10 series phones are also expected to start receiving the August security update within the next few days.

Samsung has once again started rolling out the latest Android security patch before everyone else. Surprisingly, however, it is the Galaxy S10 series and not the newer Galaxy S20 series that has started receiving the August security patch.

As reported by SamMobile, the LTE versions of the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e are now receiving a new update with the latest Android security patch. The update arrives as version G97xFXXU8CTG4 and is currently rolling out only in Germany. However, the update is likely to start rolling out in a few more countries by the end of this week.

According to screenshots shared by users in the German Android Hilfe forums, the update includes stability improvements as well for the camera and Wi-Fi. However, it isn't clear if these improvements are exclusively for the Exynos-powered variants of the Galaxy S10 series phones.

Samsung usually begins rolling out the latest security updates to its flagship phones in the first week of each month, so we expect the August patch for the Galaxy S20 and Note 10 series to arrive within the next few days. A few Galaxy A series phones will also likely get the latest security update soon.

To check if the update is available for your device, open the Settings app and head over to Software update > Download and install.
