Official UEFA Euro 2012 app for Android launches

With the Euro 2012 soccer football championship kicking off in Poland and Ukraine early next month, UEFA has teamed up with European mobile network Orange to launch the official mobile app for the tournament. The UEFA Euro 2012 app for Android is now available on the Google Play store, and features breaking news, photos and social content, as well as fixture information and team stats.

When the championship begins, the app will deliver live results (complete with push notifications of major events, if you like) and video highlights from matches. There's also a section on travel advice for the two host nations, if you're thinking of heading out to Poland or Ukraine to see your team play.

The app's available for free on the Google Play Store for phones running Android 1.6 and above in Europe (sorry, North American fans). Hit the break for the usual Google Play linkage.

  • so is this only for orange customers or what. I'm running CM9 on a Galaxy Note on ATT in the US and when I scan that QR code nothing comes up in the play store.
  • "The app's available for free on the Google Play Store for phones running Android 1.6 and above in Europe (sorry, North American fans)" :( We are in the wrong continent...
  • It looks nice but falls down in terms of content. I would've liked to see stats and resumes of past tournaments, for example. Also, has anyone else noticed some player stats are wrong. It says Rooney hasn't scored any goals in qualifying for England but I seem to remember him getting 2 against bulgaria :P
  • Is there a way to side load this?
  • nice menu key
  • Can't install it on my Gnex through Google Play. Why limit it to EU only? This is stupid. Fortunately Google is your friend... (alternatively you could read this Android Central post on Google+
  • Apparently not all of Europe, I'm in Ireland and it's unavailable for me on Galaxy Nexus. Prob only available in the UK :-(
  • There is this one I saw on another blog back in February which some haven't picked up on
  • I'm in Atlanta, and it doesn't work for me :( Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket...
  • Guys follow the link, I installed it on my epic 4g touch on sprint's network and its working! Sideload is the deal!!!!
  • stbxxl, thanks for posting the link! My browsing on G+ has gone down since the redesign rolled out...just takes too long to read all the content in that itsy bitsy part of the screen any more...
  • Cant download it from Germany..
  • Can't download it on my Samsung Galaxy Note & Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the Netherlands . . . :-(
  • This is dumb, why release an official app for the championship, and it can't even be used in South Africa. It is also stupid that you can't comment on the app store if you haven't downloaded the app.
