Grab the TP-Link 5-port Gigabit Ethernet switch for just $11 at Amazon

The TP-Link 5-port network switch is down to $10.99 on Amazon. The switch normally sells for around $20, but it's currently discounted to $16 and has a $5 off on-page coupon, which basically puts it near the lowest price ever. We have seen it go down to $10 before, but that was a long time ago and a very brief sale.

Use a switch like this to add more ports to your router or access point. It's especially good in homes where you need to connect built-in ports in one spot. It's a simple plug-and-play switch, too, so you don't need any special software.

A switch like this is great when you want to skip Wi-Fi and add a few more devices to your network with an Ethernet cable for a more stable connection. It could be that you just have a lot of items hooked up to your network and need a few more ports, too. Getting a hard-wired internet connection can be pretty important for your main computer, gaming consoles, and accessories like printers.

For me personally, I use this switch in my home because I have built-in Ethernet ports in all the main rooms. All those Ethernet ports end in a small box in my coat closet. So I bought an 8-port TP-Link unmanaged switch, connected all the ports together, connected my router to one of them... and now I have Gigabit Ethernet all around my house.

It's a switch that's essentially plug-and-play because it requires no additional configuration or software to get things rolling. The five ports are all capable of speeds up to 1000 Mbps, which means you're far more likely to be limited by your ISP than this switch. The sturdy metal casing gives you a lot of options where you want to put it, including mounting it to a wall. And once it's in place, you'll forget all about it because it has no fan or other noisy parts to distract you. The traffic optimization means even sensitive traffic like voice or video will have low latency.
