  • I use these: http://a.co/dMo1JOV They're almost half the price, and run Openwrt Linux (Barrier Breaker). You can configure them any way you want. I locked them down, only allowing ssh login with an RSA key, and only on the local LAN. Search for "Kankun SP3" for loads of information on customizing them. They're awesome, and no one is harvesting information from my home automation.
  • Remote access? As in outside of your network? TP-Link doesn't have the best track record with security..to think about it, neither most IoT devices.
  • But think of the money that can be made!
  • Do these types of devices use a lot of bandwidth?
  • Minimal. Like measured in KB not MB.
  • Yeah, this article is wrong. The mini one it refers to is $35 and the original is $25. Not a great deal at all.
  • Did you try to add them to your cart to see the discounts?
  • You're right. Thanks.
  • I added them to my cart and no discount.
  • I have both these and the Wemo smart plugs. Can't find any difference except these are better priced.
