Alltel presents Motorola Milestone X along with Samsung Gem, HTC Merge, LG Axis

Regional carrier Alltel this morning is pimping its freshly filled out Android line. It's got some high-end but aging entries, as well as a couple low-enders. Let's break it down:

  • Motorola Milestone X: That's the Droid X to those of you on Verizon. Same 4.3-inch touchscreen and 1GHz processor.
  • LG Axis: Android 2.1 on a 3.2-inch touchscreen. Has been available for a couple months now.
  • HTC Merge: The near-mythical horizontal slider. It's available for pre-order now, and you can find it in some stores.
  • Samsung Gem: Another 3.2 mid-ranger.

If you ask us to get excited about any of those phones, we'd have to answer the Milestone X and Merge, of course. But it's good to see low-end options, too. Full presser's available at the source link. [Businesswire]

  • LoL@Milestone X
LMAO@the Merge never coming to Verizon.
  • Why you lol? The X is still a rock star and the merg is a good is nice also.
  • I was laughing at the name of the X. As far as the Merge, I was laughing because so many people prayed for it to come to Verizon....and it probably isn't. It has been a finished product since October!
  • I just checked at my local Alltel store and they don't have the milestone x. Its not on the web site either but maybe this means its close! Now I have to think about what I'm going to do. I JUST got the Merge and it IS a great phone but the whole reason I passed on the desire was I knew that the MX was on the way. What to do, what to do? Keyboard or bigger screen and hdmi.
  • My friend that works at there said they will sell the MX on 4/14
  • Even though Alltel was never in my area and still isn't, didn't they get bought by Verizon and At&t like 2 years ago?
  • Verizon was not allowed to buy some markets because they would have had a monopoly in that area. Alltel was forced to seek other buyers for those markets. Here in 31021 Alltel sold to ATNI but they are still operating under the Alltel name. From what I understand there are about 800,000 custommers that Verizon did not get to buy.
  • Yes, in most places Alltel was bought out by Verizon. I think it's still a regional company somewhere tho.....
  • Curse you Verizon. A pox upon your house.
