Android Travel Apps

The July 4 holiday is one of the biggest travel weekends of the year — especially since this year's date falls on a Friday. But traveling isn't as easy as it used to be, whether it's waiting in an airport or squeezing out more money for ever-rising gasoline prices.

Android can help make things a little easier. Whether it's planes, trains or automobiles, there's a travel app out there that can help you. We've rounded up some of the best travel apps for Android, and they're a perfect fit for this holiday weekend. And if you're flying, be sure to check out your airline's official app.

Google Maps may be running my navigation, but Waze is sitting in the forefront to show cops and construction.

does google maps provide alternate routes while driving if it knows of a traffic jam ahead?

QBert says:

Yes, thankfully. I was about to turn off Google maps yesterday when I was an hour from home because I didn't need it anymore. But I'm glad I left it on because there was traffic ahead and it suggested an alternate route that saved me 30 minutes. It will suggest a route if it will save you time and you can accept or decline the change.
